Have a lovely time with your friend today HHOD. You're doing really well with everything, even though you may not feel like it at times.

@Nicnak @Carboot @beanie @Jwil @MeandO Thank you.
I expect it will do me good. I don't feel like laughing or being cheerful so I may be poor company, but I will ask my friend how her family is and what she's been doing. Her mum is elderly and I know she worries about her. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I cleaned out the furry moron, vacuumed the living room and hall, and generally tidied up before my friend came. It was nice to see her and she was very sympathetic about my mum.
After she left I posted thank you notes to my stepsister and BIL for housing us for two nights each. My mum was a great one for writing letters and now she's gone I want to be more like her.
Then I did some pruning and weeding in the garden which I always find therapeutic. Now I should shower and then start cooking. I'm running a bit late tonight but couldn't settle after my friend left, so started the gardening which I then spent too long on.
I hope everyone has had a good day. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I just found a good article about grief on the internet
https://thegrieftoolbox.com/article/20-ways-get-through-those-bad-days
These are such simple sensible things, nothing fancy or expensive and eminently doable.
A friend of mine started a thankful list after her daughter died, and although this isn't for everyone, she found it helped a little. She has kept it up for 3 years and is continually amazed there are things actually to put on the list.0 -

That sounds like a good idea Elizabeth. It's whatever helps to get people through the day.
When I feel upset about my mum I try and be thankful for those I still have, like DH, my three DC, my stepdad, sister, aunt and uncle, dad and stepmum etc. It doesn't take all the hurt away but it makes it more bearable.
I've decided to get a diary/journal and write down how I feel every day. I thought it might help. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I'll be going for my saturday saunter today. When I get back I won't have to clean out the furry moron as I did it yesterday, so I think I'll give our hedge a haircut ready for the autumn. It's starting to put the border plants in shade again.
I hope everyone has a good day today. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

That's a good idea, the change of scene will do you good:T.
I hope you find some nice book bargains. I was in a couple of charity shops on Thursday and was astonished at the poor condition of most of the books in there at the moment:(. They seem to have put the prices up too so I didn't bother buying anything even though there was one title that caught my eye. It was so tatty and scruffy-looking though that I didn't fancy it.
Enjoy your latte:beer:0 -
I know what you mean Carboot. I don't want to pay £2 for a book, but neither do I want a scruffy book with loose pages. There are bargains out there but you have to hunt for them and some days you don't find any. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
