Fidelia said:You sound so much brighter now you've been able to get outside, Hairy. I too feel so sorry for the ones who had to isolate for a full fortnight. Must have been horrendous. Not long to go now for you. I'm so glad you had no symptoms, makes the isolation seem so unfair though doesn't it, but you followed the rules regardless so all credit to you. Great to hear everyone else in the house has avoided catching it too. Let's hope we are all over the worst of it now, it seems Boris is intending to cancel ALL Covid restrictions by the end of the month. Maybe a bit premature but we all live in hope that the virus is finally in retreat.. Unless a new variant pops up.
When you mentioned about asymptomatic people passing on the virus totally unwittingly reminded me of a lady who runs nurseries that I saw on TV the other day. She was very worried about staff shortages. She said there were parents that she knew for certain had Covid yet because young children don't have to isolate they were still coming to nursery and possibly passing it on to the nursery staff. This seems bizarre. No wonder you caught it, Hairy, if that sort of thing is going on.
Well done on getting your dull assignment done and dusted. Must have been a relief. I expect your own personal experience of raising 3 children of your own will have stood you in good stead for writing about very young children even though you haven't actually had a working role with that age group.
Sending safe, virtual, socially-distanced hugs to you all xxx. I think nurseries are a petri dish for infections at the moment.

Well the bad news is that I tested positive again yesterday on day 6, so I'm still in isolation 😞. It's day 7 of self-isolation today so I'm going to test myself after lunch. I'm convinced that I'll be positive again though so I'm not holding out any hopes.
I felt very down all day yesterday after testing positive as that means the soonest I can go back to work is Wednesday 😞. I thought because I was asymptomatic that I might test negative more quickly, but sadly that's not the case. It's weird how I can be full of infection and yet have no symptoms 🤔.
Anyway four staff and five children are off with Covid now at my setting. DH thinks I might be eligible for the £500 self-isolation fund. I hope he's right as that would help to make up for lost earnings.
It's another lovely sunny day, but it felt cold when I woke up and that's because the roof and velux windows were covered in frost ❄⛄, and I'm stuck in a room with no heating! I've got four layers on and I'm sitting under blankets wearing fingerless gloves. Hot drinks are helping too so it's not too bad.
I don't know what I feel like doing today. I'll just read books and watch tv I guess.. I'll have coffee in the garden later on when it's warmed up a bit. I don't feel incentivised to do anything else.
I hope everyone else in Forumland is having a more exciting day than I am.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Oh what a pain. No wonder you don’t feel very enthusiastic. Fingers crossed you’ll be free soon 🤞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Oh dear, we were all hoping you were out of isolation. Can't be long now. It's certainly worth looking into the isolation fund: it's not a free for all but the money is there for some and you might be one of them.
That's a lot of people to be off with Covid, so perhaps the extra days are a blessing in disguise as you wouldn't want to be exposed to a different variant that gave you symptoms. Hopefully a negative test next time around, though.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Oh blast HH how annoying - hopefully today's test will be clear and that will continue tomorrow - I'll leave them crossed for a bit longer...! In a lot of ways it's great that there are lots of others also off at work as clearly there WAS an issue there - better than it just being you!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
