Oh, that is so annoying, @HairyHandofDartmoor - I do hope you get a negative test result very soon.

  • Oh what a pain. No wonder you don’t feel very enthusiastic. Fingers crossed you’ll be free soon 🤞
    Thanks SA :)

Oh dear, we were all hoping you were out of isolation. Can't be long now. It's certainly worth looking into the isolation fund: it's not a free for all but the money is there for some and you might be one of them.

That's a lot of people to be off with Covid, so perhaps the extra days are a blessing in disguise as you wouldn't want to be exposed to a different variant that gave you symptoms. Hopefully a negative test next time around, though.
Thanks Cherry :) It must be like a petri dish of infection at work.

Oh blast HH how annoying - hopefully today's test will be clear and that will continue tomorrow - I'll leave them crossed for a bit longer...!  In a lot of ways it's great that there are lots of others also off at work as clearly there WAS an issue there - better than it just being you!
Thanks EH :) Yes definitely a work issue and they must know that now.

Well more bad news today as the test for day 7 is still positive. It's like a curse 😣😭 . The difference is that I was expecting it this time around so I wasn't surprised. I read that you can leave isolation after day 10 without needing to do a test.

This is a direct quote from the NHS website:

"You can stop self-isolating after the 10 days if either:

    • you do not have any symptoms
    • you just have a cough or changes to your sense of smell or taste – these can last for weeks after the infection has gone.

You do not need to do any more rapid lateral flow tests after day 10 of your self-isolation period."

So it looks like I can stop self-isolating on Friday at the latest, although work may want two days of negative tests before they allow me back. I'm not sure how it works. Does anyone know this stuff? What if I'm still testing positive on Friday? (day 11) 🤦‍♀️

Oh no…..what a pain for you all. Can’t help with what happens after day 11?
I hope the sun is shining on you….it’s just popped it’s head out between the clouds here, so that you can enjoy your coffee. Fingers crossed for a negative tomorrow 🤞

What a pain you are still testing positive in spite of not having symptoms.

  • Well the bad news is that I tested positive again yesterday on day 6, so I'm still in isolation 😞.
    Well all I can say is boo-sucks ! :(:(:(

That's a shame about the positive tests.  As far as I am aware you are free regardless on day 10 unless you have a temp or any symptoms.  There is no requirement to test at all, so you could have just sat at home for 10 days and then left isolation without doing any tests.
"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee
  • I think the negative lateral flows are only needed to get out of isolation early and you come out after 10days regardless.
