  • So glad you were feeling well enough to go out, and what a sensible and relaxing way to enjoy NYE with a takeaway.
I also got some half-price Xmas goodies at a local garden centre, including some fabulous Xmassy chocs for a friend's birthday, and little Xmas cards for my Scrabble club friends.

My New Year resolution is the same each year - 'Do not procrastinate'. All that can be said about it is that I do try, but every single failing of mine can be encapsulated in that one admonition to self !

Wishing you, HH, a very Happy New Year, If you look back at your achievements over 2019, they are many and various - you should be proud of yourself, we all are of you !!

Thank you Elizabeth :). That's a lovely thing to say :).

There are much worse faults than procrastination. I hope you have a very happy new year.

  • Unfortunately the takeaway was a step too far for my tummy. I could only eat a quarter of it and my tummy felt queasy and uncomfortable all evening. DH didn't feel great either.

We did see the new year in with all three of our DSs which was lovely :) and watched a film with them for about an hour afterwards until DH and I couldn't stay awake any longer.

This morning DH is ill though :(. He is shivery, achey and lost his appetite. My tummy still feels queasy and I actually feel worse than yesterday :(. So not the best start to the new year.

We were supposed to be going to aunt's house tonight to a family party, so I'm very disappointed that we can't go :(. I don't feel like I'm having a very good holiday from school so far, but it can't be helped.

Anyway at least DH doesn't have angry customers waiting for work as it tends to go quiet at this time of year, so we can both rest until we feel better. And at least we managed to get out to the NT place yesterday.

We don't have any 'normal' healthy food in the house and my tummy can't cope with greasy fatty Christmas type food at the moment, so when DS3 wakes up we're going to ask him to walk to the shop for us and buy some soup and grapes for the invalids!

I hope everyone else is having a better start to 2020.

  • What a start to the New Year HHOD:eek:. I'm so sorry you've had a setback and DH is also feeling ill. I always find something like a very small amount of porridge is palatable at times like that, made a bit thinner than usual.

What a shame you'll have to miss going to your Aunt's:(. I hope your boys don't catch it too. Sending hugs your way xxx

Thank you FS :). I think I've set myself back by having some mince pies and cream yesterday and then the takeaway, followed by a late night. Silly of me but then there is very little healthy food in the house at the moment.

I think that I will feel better after a day of healthy eating and an early night. DH will need longer I think to recover, as his illness has just come on, but at least I'm on the mend!

  • MY GOALS FOR 2020

    - Finish my Level 3 course
    - Get a full time job
    - Try & relax more so I'm ill less often
    - Tidy & de-clutter office
    - Get fence put around back garden
    - Buy a foot rest for DH & I
    - Go for more walks with DH
    - Spend more time with family & friends
    - Go to Pilates more regularly
    - Start planning next Christmas now
    - Buy less clothes
    - Build up emergency fund
    - Save spending money for Scotland

I think all of these goals are achievable for me.
I don't smoke or drink alcohol at the moment. I don't need to lose weight and I already do a lot of exercise. Despite this I seem to be ill all the time :( and I'm wondering if this is caused by stress. So one of my goals is to relax more.

I want to buy a foot rest for DH and I as we get tired legs and I think putting our feet up in the evening would help.

Exciting news is that my sister has booked DH and I flights to visit her in Scotland for a week in the summer :). I've given her the money for the plane tickets which were only £58 each. Accommodation will be free of course, so we just need to save some spending money for our holiday in Scotland. I'm really looking forward to going with DH as I went on my own last year. It will do him so much good to have a holiday :).
