You have become the "go to girl" at the school. As in they know who to go to to get a job done. There will be more work if there is any available. if there are more finances available in the future (don't bank on anyones weasel words) it will be a case of thank goodness we have got someone who can get the job done.
PS b****y cold here. Already well into minus.0 -

Lovely idea to get the decorations all up nice and early, HHOD:T so you and the family have longer to appreciate and enjoy them. I quite enjoy getting ours out and putting them up (though I'm a slouch compared to you, they're all still in the loft:o). What I hate is taking them down again, not just because it's the end of a lovely season but because it always seems to take so long:(
I'm not going to go mad this year though as it will just be DH and I for much of the time. It's not like when the children were all at home when Christmas was just magical:j. With having 4 of them it's nigh impossible to have them all home at the same time:( as they are scattered to the 4 corners of the country with work. The nearest one lives about 250 miles away:eek: Plus, all but one have a spouse or partner. One has 2 children and one is expecting a baby early in January and is finding travelling any distance impossible at the moment. Our oldest son is in the army and on deployment abroad, another is a paramedic and on call over Christmas. DD1 is a junior doctor in A&E and often works over Christmas as she doesn't have children yet (or a husband/partner either, she says she's too knackered to have a social life and meet anyone:eek:). I think she volunteers to work then so colleagues with children can get to spend time with them, knowing her. When children have the spouse/partners families to share time with it makes Christmas logistics very complicated:rotfl:. You've got all that to look forward to;), HHOD, so make the most of having yours all still single and available to spend Christmasses with you:beer:. We had 2 of ours here over last Christmas which was brilliant but circumstances mean none of them can come this time:(. What with one thing and another DH didn't want to accept the invite from a couple of them to go and spend Christmas with them this year either.
With so many to accommodate all at once:eek: although we'd manage somehow and did managed to shoehorn them all in when everyone (our children, their partners/spouses and children) were all here together in late summer for a couple of big family celebrations that happened over the same weekend it's quite nice to be able to relax a bit:j. All the washing of bedding and towels after they'd all gone was a nightmare as it seemed to rain for the whole following week after they'd left:eek:. We'll be going down to stay with our son and d-i-l as soon as the baby is born and when our soldier son is home on leave (hopefully late January) he and his family will come to stay a few days:j. They all phone us/Skype on Christmas Day/New Year if they don't come in person so its kind of like being together.0 -
Your decorations sound lovely Hairy. I was leaving ours until next weekend but my nephew phoned out of the blue mid week asking if he could come around with his daughter on Sunday so we rushed and put them up so it was Christmassy for her. It looks very pretty - we put lots of decks in the garden on the fences and keep out back curtains open so we can see them - it brightens everything up and cheers the spirits
When does your ds come back from uni.?January spends - £587.580 -

It's a shame your children all live so far away from you (and each other), but I'm glad you'll see your son in January and visit the new baby. I hope you and DH have a lovely peaceful Christmas together.

I slept quiet well last night so felt reasonably fresh this morning. But I felt really strange seeing the TA that I've been doing the cover for back in the staffroom this morning
. I feel like she's taken my job away but of course it's her job not mine
. Anyway I was friendly to her as I know it's not her fault. I need to get used to just being a volunteer again.
Anyway I got on all right in the class that I volunteer in and I always enjoy chatting to the children at lunchtime. The teacher of my lunchtime class told me that I was a good dinner lady so that was nice of her. It was a lovely sunny day but cold.
When I got home I helped DH to sort out the accounts as they need to be dropped off urgently. We got loads done so they are nearly ready to drop off. So I missed Pilates because of doing the accounts but my friend wasn't going anway.
I feel tired and a bit low, but I'm trying to be positve and not give in to negativity. I'll have more time to do Christmas prep and do my coursework now I'm not doing the cover.
I hope everyone has had a good Monday.

You're right to concentrate on the positive aspects of more time, especially as you've had a cold and felt tired, though I appreciate the money is a powerful compensator !!
Sleep's a weird thing: I was awake an hour before I usually get up yesterday - could I get back to sleep ? Could I heck. So last night, I go to bed thinking I'll soon sleep and I lay awake for ages! I went to the loo to break the cycle of non-sleep, read a bit & finally got to sleep some time after 3am !!! Haven't noticed any lack of sleep today either.0
