Both DH and I felt tired last night so turned our light out at 10.30pm and then we both tossed and turned for over two hours! I don't know why we couldn't sleep, maybe we were overtired. My mind was certainly in overdrive and I just couldn't seem to calm my thoughts down enough to sleep :(. We ended up talking to each other about what we were anxious about and that helped to soothe my mind a bit and hopefully DH's mind too. Anyway hopefully we'll both sleep better tonight.

I met stepdad for coffee this morning and it was nice to catch up. Town was rammed with Christmas shoppers  so I wanted to make a quick getaway afterwards, plus I haven't made my present list yet :o so I didn't do any Christmas shopping afterwards. I just bought some food we needed in Mr T.

I also bought three tins of H3ro3s chocolates for school because they were only £3.50 each instead of £5. I thought I would give a tin at Christmas to the children in my lunchtime class and the two classes I volunteer in most of the time :). I also bought some chocolate coins to put in our fabric advent calendar.

When I got home I got the Christmas decorations out of the void and put up the lights. I put up the berry lights around the living room picture rail but a string of fourteen weren't working. After spending ages swopping bulbs around we realised that we didnt' have any spare bulbs of the correct type  so we threw them away and put up a replacement set of berry lights which luckily we had bought in the January sales last year. We must have wasted an hour trying to get them to work though . I've also put up the icicle lights in the hall and some coloured LED lights around the kitchen walls. It looks a bit Christmassy now :xmastree: but I've run out of steam so the two Christmas trees and the two advent calendars are going up tomorrow.

It was quite chilly today with a cold wind, but the bus was only three minutes late and at least it didn't rain :). DH is cooking tonight so after my shower I can just relax and watch Christmas films :).

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday :).

  • That's annoying about the lights but good that you had the spare lights ready. I am sure it looks amazing already x

It is looking more festive Nicnak :). Althought the LED lights in the kitchen need a battery and we don't seem to have any in the house!

    Just catching up :)

Sorry to hear the paid cover has come to an end :( Hopefully you'll be able to pick something else up to replace it.

I'm putting my Xmas decs up tomorrow, always put them up 1st Sunday in December, bit early this year as it works out but hey ho.

Glad you enjoyed coffee with your stepdad. Town will be rammed as for most people it's the last payday before Xmas.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Thanks SA :). At least the extra money will be useful before Christmas. I like to get the decorating over with as soon as possible as it takes ages and then I can put my mind to writing cards and planning presents, etc.

Yes I expect that's why town was so busy. If it was that busy at 10.30am I dread to think what it was like by lunch time .

I'm most impressed you got so much done already. It all sounds lovely.

Still.....I've just got out the Xmas handwash (Xmas tree-shaped!!)

Thanks Elizabeth :). It wasn't as much as I would have liked to have done but it's a start.

    Xmas hand wash eh :).

  • I went to sleep quite quickly last night but was tossing and turning from 5am for some reason .

Today I put a wash on, emptied all the bins and then focused on decorating again. I assembled the big Christmas tree, put two sets of lights on it, put tinsel on and then a box full of baubles. I felt dead tired afterwards and I reckon it took about two hours, but it's done now and it does look nice :xmastree:.

I also put up the two advent calendars. They are both fabric ones in the shape of a Christmas tree. One has 24 velcro decorations in pockets that you stick on each day and the other has pockets that I put chocolate coins in every year :xmassmile.

After that I decide to rest as I felt so tired. Yesterday's shenanigans with the lights didn't help! All that's left to do is to assemble and decorate the tabletop kitchen tree, put the wreath on the front door and put down the Christmas tablecloth. I do wonder sometimes why I go to all this trouble just to take it all down in a few week's time, but it does look lovely and this is why I do it early so that we have longer to enjoy it.

I hope everyone is having a good Sunday :rudolf:. We've had lovely sunshine today so I hope other people have had some.
