We have another week too before ours. Not sure which is the best. My youngest started reception this time and is shattered so we are counting the days to half term. However the next half term is so busy with Christmas stuff so maybe it's better that half term is later xx

Thanks BB50 :). Yes next half term will be a very long one! I hope your youngest is happy at school. It is very tiring for them when they first start.
Did your husband not deregister for VAT?

He was considering it but then he found out we don't have to use the new software as we have NEVER been over the vat threshold. Also he mentioned to a customer that he was thinking of de-registering and they basically said oh you're not doing as well as we thought then :(. Also we wouldn't be able to claim the vat back on items we buy for the business. So in the end he decided to stay vat registered. I said we can only stay registered if we start putting 20% of all our sales aside in a seperate account for vat so we don't get fined for late payments. And so far we have paid our bill on time and not got fined.

  • I put my light out at 10pm last night and slept soundly until 7.30am this morning. I still feel very tired and full of cold though so I've decided to stay at home today. Stepdad is too busy to meet for coffee and I've postponed my optician appointment. Ironically on the day I'm going to be at home the sun is out and it's forcast to be dry. I think we've had rain every day in October :(.

I'm going to sit on the sofa and read most of the day, plus catch up on the laundry as I've been too busy and tired to do any and the laundry baskets won't close. At least if it really is dry I may be able to dry some outdoors as it takes ages for them to dry on the clothes horses indoors. Especially as we haven't had the heating on yet.

Moneywise things are not great at the moment. DH hasn't brought in much money this month so I'll have to raid the EF fund today to pay the mortgage :(. I'll do two days of cover in October which I should get paid for at the end of November, but the other nine days will be in November so I won't get the money for that until I get paid in December. At least I can put it towards Christmas expenses. It should be about £350 after tax for the 11 days overtime, plus I'll get my normal pay for my lunchtime job on top of that.

DS3 is at uni so we are using less electricity and we're definitely getting through less food. In fact we haven't even done a proper food shop this week. DH has bought milk and I've had to buy frozen berries and matches. But DH had been making bread every day with our breadmaker and we've been eating from the freezer. I got a bargain in the C00p yesterday. I bought six items for £5: B!rds 3ye chicken burgers, chicken fillets, fish fingers, Alph@b!tes, frozen peas and some fancy ice lollies that DS1 loves. The normal price would have been £10.20 so I thought that was a bit of a bargain to help fill up the freezer.

We haven't had the heating on yet and hopefully won't need it on until December, unless it turns really cold. We're just wearing jumpers and sitting under blankets on the sofa.

Surveys seem thin on the ground at the moment, so I hope DH can bring in some money soon as I don't want to spend all of our EF on day to day living :(. Anyway fingers crossed that DH can make some sales soon and get work finished so that he can do some invoicing.

I hope everyone has a good Saturday :).

I bought that coop deal the other day as well, it's good! They regularly do similar but ours quite often sells out of bits of it which is annoying.
