I love both butternut squash and sweet potato. Occasionally I buy the sweet potato chips but they have a lot of additives. At least they are easy to peel yourself and are gorgeous roasted as above.
Squashes I have to feel in the mood to do - quite hard on the hands !!
If you see some reduced cream at the supermarket, you can treat yourselves to a mixed root veg/cream/rosemary and parmesan cheese bake.
Peel and slice all veg (even oddments, incl potatoes), heat the remaining ingredients together and pour over before baking. The smell of the baking rosemary is wonderful. We are lucky enough to have a rosemary hedge so I can just go out and pick the tender new sprigs when I like.0 -

I did a full day at school today with two twenty minute breaks, then soon after I got home I went to Pilates, walked home and cooked dinner. So I feel tired now! I'm just glad I don't have to go to school until lunchtiime tomorrow. I was in a different class than I expected because a TA was off sick.
My vegetables today were roasted mediterranean vegetables, six cherry tomatoes and five olivesFinally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

PLEASE do! Do it soon because there may be a lack of appointment 'slots' especially over half term. If I were you I'd mention the fact that you seem to get a lot of colds (maybe a sign of being a bit run down generally). I know it's usual to catch everything that's going when first working with children:eek: as lots of colds etc go the rounds and the children tend to sneeze and cough without covering their mouths and noses:rotfl:. From reading back over your diary it looks as if the frequency of your colds dated from before you started spending a lot of time at school.
Incidentally, the GP might need to refer you to the Practice Nurse (if your surgery has one) for the actual blood tests if he/she thinks they'd be useful. They'll probably ask for a urine sample too (nothing to be alarmed about, they always seem to want one of those). From experience the bloods will probably mean another appointment after the original GP one so make sure you set the ball rolling soon, ideally TODAY.
Enjoy having a few hours 'off' today:beer:0 -

Well done on the veg intake:T but there are still no leafy greens:(. I seem to be banging on about them every time I post on here:o but I don't think olives contribute much and cherry tomatoes are so small as well.
I know the nutritionists recommend 5-A-Day but I've read recent research that suggests that's nowhere near enough and it should be nearer 10-A-Day:eek:0 -

Thank you Scimpess. I've decided to go to the walk in clinic at my gp surgery at half term.

I'm doing my best Scrimpess and at least I'm heading in the right direction. I think olives are quite good for you as, despite being high in salt, they contain vitamin E, iron, copper and calcium (according to BBC Good Food website).

I didn't have to go to school until lunchtime today, but I did have to eat my lunch at the absurd time of 11am . I did PE with the year ones which is always an interesting experience (think troupe of monkeys ). I'm looking forward to starting my official cover on Friday and the teacher has given me a timetable so I know what I'll be doing
.
The weather has been weird today. It was sunny all morning but then rained from about 11am until about 2pm. After that it was sunny all afternoon. I think the weather has it in for us dinner ladies . We didn't have to stay indoors luckily as it was light rain so the children just ran about in the rain.
I went to sleep at 10pm last night and slept well until 8am this morning. Well I did feel very tired after Pilates! But I do think the vegetables are helping because that's two weeks in a row that I've managed Pilates after a full day at school with only two twenty minute breaks :T.
My spends today were £4 on a diet coke, frozen berries and cooks matches. I keep meaning to take a coke from home and put it in the fridge in the staffroom. This would save me 90p a day which is not to be sniffed at. I must remember to put a coke in my bag tonight because I'll be too busy in the morning. I did remember to return a beanbag that I brought home by mistake and put a painted stone and a pony tail band that have been in my pocket for a week into the lost property. It's amazing what you find in the playground :rotfl:.
I hope everyone has had a good Tuesday.

This morning I remembered to book flu jabs for DH, DS1 and DS2. As they are at two different GP surgeries this is no mean feat :A. I need to find out if I can get one at the chemist, but B00ts are booked up for two weeks and at Sup3rdruy the pharmacist is on a course until Thursday . The last thing I want is flu after my last experience so booking the flu jabs is always a priority with me!
VEGETABLE UPDATE:
To please Scrimpess I'm having broccoli with tonight's dinner.
