I don't know if this is worth anything but at my exercise class tonight the instructor was extolling the virtues of magnesium supplements for a variety of things. Might be worth looking into.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Glad you are making an appointment. Best to get everything checked out as well.
Enjoy your weekend. I agree that a haircut is definitely money well spent. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Don’t forget to make the appointment tomorrow- says the lady who has been going to make a dental appointment since June
I’ll remind you and you remind me
Glad you’ve had a good day and that you’ve started your assignment.
The weeks are certainly flying past quickly.. I was at school all day on Friday ane I will be on Monday too, but I'll try and ring the doctor on Tuesday.

(Apart from a few forays into perms in the 80's, my hairstyle is pretty much what it was 50 years ago, perhaps that explains why when I meet people from years ago they remember who I am !!!)
Still puzzled by the lack of suggested word count for your assignments. Uni essays suggest a word count, and I'm told by a student nurse that her essays are the same. How can you divide up what needs to be said without a idea where you're going ? Having said that, you're obviously doing the right thing so far.
Good for you getting over the hurdle of actually starting - I don't know why that's the most difficult bit.
Yay for extra veg !!
Thanks Elizabeth. My hair has gone from straight to curly over the years so I do look different from when I was younger (not to mention the wrinkles ).

My 80’s perms carried on until the early 90’s when I then had it cut into a bob. My dad has called me the Vicar of Dibley ever since cheeky b*gger!
Hi Hairy, re your tiredness, good idea to get your thyroid levels checked. A common ailment that is easily treated. Do you feel the cold?. I've had a couple of unfortunate perms in the 80s too  :rotfl:. Yes I will go to the doctor as soon as I can.

I'm so happy that you've started to eat vegetables:T:beer: but amazed that, being a vegetarian for most of your life, the addition of them in your diet every day is such a novelty for you:eek:. What were you eating when you prepared them for your family all those years? I assume you were cooking fresh veg for them.
I still think you're just skirting round the edges though as you don't mention eating any green leafy veg. Things like cabbage (not the pale cannonball ones that you probably grate up for coleslaw) but something like a dark green Savoy. Kale is good (the latest superfood, apparently:rotfl:, although we've all been kale fans for decades) and broccoli. I'd advise you not to buy frozen broccoli, it seems really rubbery to me and not pleasant at all. If you have a street market you can stock up on a huge amount of fresh green veg quite cheaply:j.. All very quick to shred/chop up and cook. I think you mentioned not being a very capable cook (although you are probably underestimating yourself) but there's no mystique to prepping and cooking veg;).. The only exception to the frozen v fresh issue IMO is frozen spinach which all the supermarkets sell now. It's in little 'cubes' and although it doesn't look like 'real' leaf spinach when cooked it's incredibly useful to just toss into anything you're cooking to add some extra veg (in HM soups, risottos, stir fries etc). Fresh spinach takes up so much room in the fridge and cooks down to nothing so these frozen 'blocks' are brilliant.
I envy you your hair appointment. Money well spent in my opinion and very well deserved in your case as you treat yourself so seldom:beer:. I empathise with the scarecrow analogy. I feel the same at the moment and am in urgent need of a bit of hairdressing TLC myself:o. Lucky you being able to arrange such a quick appointment. Anywhere half-decent in our area is booked up for at least a week ahead:(
Thank you Scrimpess. I have had times in my life when I've eaten a lot more vegetables. My diet has varied over the years depending upon my mood and what is happening in my life; sometimes it's been very healthy, other times less so. Since my Mum died I've cared less about a lot of things so I've not felt like cooking healthy meals.
However my low energy levels are making me realise that I need to care a bit more about what I'm eating, so I'm going to make more effort to cook and eat more healthily.
I do feel a lot better since having my hair cut so it was definitly worth the money.

I met stepdad for coffee this morning and bought some fruit and veg, etc. I got fish in batter (two packets at half price), fish fingers (DH likes them), a bag of pre-chopped casserole veg, raw carrots, cherry tomatoes, grapes and bananas, which all came to £10.57. I was pleased that I didn't buy anything else
. I also queued up in the bank for twenty minutes to pay in £12 worth of coins .
Since getting home I've put a wash on and hung it up to dry on two clothes horses. Now I've put on a second wash on so I'll have to tumble that load. I've also ironed a pair of work trousers, my two cotton work cardigans (I think it's getting cold enough to need them soon), and two tops for work. I've also put away all my summer clothes and got out all my winter clothes.
I've checked surveys but One Poll doesn't seem to be working at the moment and PA and You Gov seem to have abandoned me. DH hasn't brought in much money this month so we're using the VAT money to pay our bills at the moment. When the VAT bill is due we'll have to use our EF to pay it unless DH can earn some money
.
School has told me they can only afford to pay me MTA rates for my TA cover which is disappointing, but I suppose it's still more money that I would have had. Sometimes I think I'm destined to be poor until the day I die.
I'm having a rest now before a relaxing shower and a night of telly. I hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

That’s quite naughty of school but as you say it’s more than you were getting.
I’m pleased you are still meeting your step dad for coffee- it shows how much you must mean to him.
:T:T on eating your veggies- what would your mum say if she thought you weren’t eating properlyJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Thank you Milann
. Yes it's a bit disappointing. I know school are short of money but still...
I'm glad I'm still meeting stepdad for coffee occasionally because it's the only time I get to talk to him on his own. His fiance is very nice but I'm still getting to know her so I don't have that cosy familiarity. I asked stepdad if I could have a cake stand and some eclectic old fashioned teacups my Mum owned, so he brought them today. I thought we could have afternoon tea now and again and think of my Mum.
It's true that my Mum would definitely want me to look after myself and eat my veg.

Good that you're meeting your step dad for coffee, it's early days with his GF though and understandably you're feeling loyal to your mum. Nice to have the cake stand and cupsI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
