So pleased to hear you had a better day and there was no further developments. I think you can safely put it out of your mind now and just enjoy your job. I would imagine the school are indeed grateful for all the effort and hours you are putting into the school unpaid and the furthest thing from their mind would be criticising you for a little bit of noise. Keep up the good work. I would have been delighted to have you as a volunteer when I was teaching.

I'm not surprised nothing was said. And I'm absolutely certain if anybody did comment it would have been nothing more than a throw away remark that was forgotten as soon as it was said. Just a shame you spent the weekend mulling it over and worrying. :o

It sounds like you're doing really well in your job, in your volunteering and in your temporary TA role. Now you need to start putting as much effort into being more confident about your abilities. ;) From the outside looking in you sound an absolute godsend to the school. xx

Thank you both, you've really helped to reassure me :). Hopefully I was worrying needlessly and nothing will get said. But I'm still going to make more effort to keep the children quiet when they line up in the playground in order to try and make myself bullet proof :).

  • I didn't go in until lunch time today but I was staying for the afternoon so I had to eat my lunch at the ridiculous hour of 11am  no wonder I felt hungry when I got home :rotfl:. Nobody said anything about my class being noisy (phew) so I think it's unlikely that anything will get said now. But I was still in a kick a** mood and made sure the children lined up as quietly as possible (although I was very nice to them the rest of the time :)). Half of our lunchtime was wet as the weather is bonkers at the moment and ranges from sunshine to sudden bursts of heavy rain.

I feel a bit achey after Pilates so I know I worked my muscles hard. This evening I'm doing roasted mediterranean vegetables for everyone with their meal (frozen and from a packet but still!) so I'm keeping up my vegetable intake :A.

Today's spends were 90p on a diet coke (I know it's expensive but it's my treat to myself after school as I'm always tired and thirsty when I finish). I also spent £5 on the school consortium lottery. I know it's a waste of money and we'll never win but I'm only going to do it when it's a rollover and I see it as a way of bonding with the staff.

I need to try and do more surveys as our Christmas pot is in serious deficit and it's not long to go now .

I hope everyone has had a good Tuesday :)

Evening HHD :) I agree, whatever comment was made, if there even was such a comment ;), I think it's highly unlikely anybody will mention it now.

I wouldn't begrudge yourself 90p on a drink but if it's a daily thing could you buy some cans from the supermarket and pop one in the staffroom fridge for when you finish.

I'm not sure what your school consortium is but we used to do a Club 100 - you could buy a number(s) for £1 each and if yours came up you won a certain amount and the rest went to a couple of school related pots from memory. I won a couple of times so you never know your might be lucky. xx

Where I work we had a member of staff at the same level as me and one day she took me into the kitchen and told me that the sister in charge of the ward that day had taken her aside to tell her that one of our long term patients who we do meal supervision with had complained about me and her for talking about food and diets while we sat with her and that we needed to watch our backs when sitting with this patient

The patient in question had an eating disorder and we are not allowed to speak to them about food or diet at all,it's something I would never ever do as it can cause so many problems,I was really annoyed that this patient had complained about me when I knew I hadn't done anything wrong and I was annoyed that the sister on duty had said something to my colleague but not me and had left it to her to tell me about it, so I told the colleague I was going to speak to the sister about it,the colleague told me to leave it as it would just cause problems but I decided to speak to her anyway

I spoke to the sister and she was really angry because the patient hadn't complained about me at all, she had however complained about my colleague who had then decided to make out both of us had been complained about, the sister offerd to go and speak to her about it but I told her I would handle it myself, into,d the colleague that I didn't appreciate her lying to me and she kept out of my way after that ,she later got the sack for bringing her daughter in in the evening so she could eat food meant for the patients

I don’t think anything will be said about the noise in the line- it was probably a throw away comment and teacher would be mortified if they knew its upset you. Don’t forget teachers have bad days too when the little darlings are giving them grief for whatever reason - windy days, rainy days , very hot days, giddy vibes around the classroom which are highly infectious and sometimes it can go on all day- it could have just been ‘one of those days’ and if indeed teacher did comment - she/he could have had a bad morning herself and made the comment knowing it was just the way the day was going and the afternoon might continue that way. Hope that makes sense. And knowing how grapevines work in schools I’d take everything with a pinch of salt and until you’ve heard it from the horses mouth I’d not give it headspace.

Early last year we all had to go into the staff room a few at a time for epi-pen training as a child I work with has a severe peanut allergy. Anyway I’d done my bit - gone back to class until dinner time. When it was my 15 minute dinner time I went back to the staff room. The training was still going on so I sat on a chair at the back and ate my dinner as discretely as I could without disturbing the training. I thought nothing of it. Towards the end of dinner time a member of staff came and chatted/gossiped about a member of staff eating a peanut bar whilst the training was happening. Later that afternoon a teacher came and asked me in general chatty conversation what I’d had for dinner - I told her and still thought nothing of it. Next I knew the headteacher popped in and asked me what I’d had for dinner. I began to put 2 & 2 together......I got my bag and showed her my empty packaging. Somebody had seen me eating a SW bar and assumed it was a nut bar and complained. I went to great lengths to say I work closely with this child and NEVER bring anything with nut in to work. Person who ‘mentioned’ it was quickly and effectively told about making assumptions......I’ve only told you that story to let you see how some folk like to think they’re getting one over on folk. School grapevines can really get to you if you let them....

Thanks TF2 :). It is a daily habit :o so I really should take a can from home to put in the fridge as it would save me a lot of money.
