    Just a wee token gift.

Talking of which any ideas for a wee gift for a lady who is going to be 40? Thanks :)

When my best friend was 40 I took her a balloon on which I'd written 'I'm 39-ish', and because she was trying to lose weight, an inflatable cake !!!
(She also had a proper present)

Hope you’ve had a good day and that you’ve let the comment go.
I bet you ds is thrilled with his money and chocolate present. He only has a small room and won’t want extra clutter - it’s my dds birthday at weekend, she’ll be getting a cheque but no chocolate as she’s not keen on it. I’ve no idea what to get her, she has a very minimal home, uses very expensive and particular cosmetics and clothes - so she can choose what she wants this way.

I enjoy reading along with your diary although I don't often post. I would just say though that having worked in a school, this just sounds like a throwaway comment that will have been forgotten as soon as it was said. Everyone teacher, and TA has different ways of working with children, some like a noisy working atmosphere while others prefer quietness. It really isn't anyone's place to comment on another member of staff's way of doing things. Goodness if you are dealing with infants, it is ridiculous to expect them to line up in silence. The truth is that some of the children are just not ready for formal schooling situations and it is so hard for them to conform to all the rules and regulations. In most other countries children don't even start school until they are 6 or 7. It sounds to me like you are doing a great job and trying your best to let the kids have fun. Try not to worry.

Thank you for your perspective Moneywhizz :). You've made me feel a lot better about the whole thing :).

Thank you Milann :). I think you're right and DS3 doesn't want any clutter. I always ask for money for my birthday.

Evening HHD :) Hope you had a good day at school and the comment situation wasn't mentioned. Did rain stop play for you today or did the children manage to get outside at lunchtime? xx

Well guess what? Nobody said anything to me about my class being noisy :). I met the head teacher twice and she seemed perfectly friendly, everyone in the staffroom was being friendly too. Maybe something will be said about it tomorrow, but I'm hoping not.

I feel like I had a good day at school actually :). I spent the morning in the class I'm going to cover and did some work with the autistic boy which I feel went well.

It was heavy rain all day  so we had indoor play but I followed my plan. I got the children in a circle to play Blink and they enjoyed that. Then they went up to eat and when they were back in the classroom I got them to do some exercises to wear them and then I read them a story. I did have to work hard at times to keep the noise level reasonable, but I feel as if I did a good job :).

Then after lunch I decided to stay for the afternoon, so I nipped to the bakery and spent £3.10  on a cheese pasty and had a (free) cup of tea in the staffroom and went back into the class I'll be covering, which again went well I felt.

Then when I got home I decided that I must go to Pilates because I haven't been since the end of July. So I've been there and enjoyed having a chat with my friend :T.

I feel tired now but not as bad as I expected. Maybe the vegetables are starting to work and give me more energy? Or maybe it's because I had a weekend where I didn't have a long drive two days in a row lugging suitcases up and down stairs inbetween.

Talking of vegetables, yesterday I had four cherry tomatoes as a snack and three baby sweetcorn with my evening meal. Today I'm going to have some microwaved baby carrots. I'm determined to have vegetables every day.

I hope everyone has had a dry Monday :).

Nobody said a word TF2 :rotfl: so I'm hoping it won't get mentioned tomorrow (maybe they were too busy to mention it today).

It was pouring with rain all day so I had to entertain the children in the classroom  but it went okay (I think so anyway).

I'm not surprised nothing was said. And I'm absolutely certain if anybody did comment it would have been nothing more than a throw away remark that was forgotten as soon as it was said. Just a shame you spent the weekend mulling it over and worrying. :o

It sounds like you're doing really well in your job, in your volunteering and in your temporary TA role. Now you need to start putting as much effort into being more confident about your abilities. ;) From the outside looking in you sound an absolute godsend to the school. xx
