Fanboys and Sheeples are funny.

I remember my BIL buying the first Iphone and the fact that i could not bluetooth over some files because Apple didnt want him to.
I had a cheap flip Motorola back then and thought why would you buy a phone that wont allow you to do basic stuff that every other phone at a fraction of the price can do.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yes it’s never been clear how I gain ‘more’ options other than in hardware if I moved to Android. I’d then be stuck with just Android, and that’s not a very attractive switch when I’m already ‘stuck’ with iOS. And hardware options only matter if you can’t get the hardware you need elsewhere, which has never been a problem for me since Apple has top-notch hardware!0

You asked the question,I answered.
so you ask a hardware question and come back with a software argument.......
your watch argument proves the walled garden apple situation perfectly.
I'm out.
I wouldn't say Apple create a walled garden approach just because their watch does not work with android. It is probably due to software compatibly and battery performance rather than an attempt to create a walled garden. If Apple wanted to create a wall garden then I could come of with loads of things other than the watch. Anyone can switch from IOS to android if they take the time to set up 3rd party apps/accounts.
However what Apple is good at is creating a stickiness with all the built in apps that most people can get by on without too much hassle and it works well across all their devices. But you have the choice to use Microsoft, google and smaller app companies a wall garden by default stops you having that access. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Where is Motorola now? :rotfl:
Motorola and all the other so called mobile phone companies of the time mocked Apple for those similar reasons..
1. No physical keyboard
2. No copy and paste
3. Crappy camera
4. No 3G
Now those same companies are either out of business, changed ownership over and over or just a bit player.
Google/ android thankfully were quick enough to switch focus away from competing with Microsoft in mobile (Microsoft blew it) after seeing what Apple had created. Samsung used their sheer size and openness to use android and now we have two platforms that continue to push forward on software development. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It seems like a better explanation is required.0

Phone:
iOS = Apple = single hardware supplier
Android = multiple hardware suppliers
Watch:
Apple watch = single hardware supplier
Android Wear = multiple hardware suppliers
Etc. etc.
Yes ... iOS is a platform, Android is a platform. The difference with iOS is that you can ONLY get compatible hardware from Apple; Android offers all the same hardware options as iOS but from multiple suppliers with differing features and benefits.
Once you're embedded in the Apple ecosystem it's not easy to extricate yourself without having to incur hardware purchase costs. The right time to do it would be when the watch and phone both need replacing. The MBP can probably integrate with whatever cloud solution you opted for under Android.0 -
So that would only benefit me if I couldn’t already get the hardware I required from Apple?0

I think your answer has to be given better.
The reason I use apple products is I love the hardware and software.
If I could not afford to drop £450 on a iPhone then I would switch to android
If android or a phone had features that was like the difference between iphone 3GS and Nokia E71 then I would switch to android. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Why are you even bothering to ask? It's patently obvious that your mind is made up
