I watched the postman not bother delivering my parcel

But as it's apparently what has caused this issue, I've now removed it.
If the only reason you have the postbox is to help the postman then I think you should remove it. Your inconviencing yourself to help them and putting your post at risk and the postman can't even be bothered to deliver your package!.0 -

I think I understand now.
Decent people = people who agree with you.
Not decent people = people who have a different opinion to you.
If you only wanted replies that agree 100% with you, why bother posting on a public forum?0 -
its exactly comments like yours that we are talking about.....why do people have to be so difficult and turn everything into an i am right and you are wrong thing......
it is true that often you will post on here and the poster is given such a hard time...everything said is twisted and taken out of context. When somebody posts on here they usually have a problem....why do some people just want to make the poster feel ten times worse by giving them a difficult time. Always make it seem as though its their own fault.
majority of posts on this thread have been helpful....but sometimes i think - how would you feel in their shoes.
to my mind the postman did not do what royal mail were `PAID` to do. I dont know what the OP bought but the fact that he paid £12 to ensure it was there saturday morning means it must have been very important to him...post man did NOT do his job.0 -

I still cannot understand him getting out of his van holding the parcel and leaving a card.
Why not just leave the parcel in the van and put a card in the box?0 -

Exactly, it certainly would suggest that there is more to this, maybe even something that OP doesn't know until they speak to their local delivery office.
Nobody has called anyone a liar, questions have been asked to try to clarify the situation as there was important info missing from the original post (specifically that there is a box 200ft from the house). Even with the answers to the questions there are some things that don't completely add up and just don't really make much sense (the fact that he carried the parcel if he intended to leave a card). It really would suggest that there was something else going on, depending on what that is would depend on whether or not RM are in the wrong or whether it was just an unfortunate event.0 -
How about - he got out of the van with the small parcel thinking it might fit in the box, when he found it wouldn't, looked at the 200ft drive & thought CBA and left the card instead.0

If I remember correctly the postman was driving?
Why can your postman not drive up to your house?0 -

Why does that even matter? How does that affect my consumer rights?
Details aside, I've asked what my rights are considering I paid £12 for Saturday delivery, Royal Mail failed to deliver and I no longer want the product as it was time-sensitive.
There are now three pages of people questioning my story, suggesting the problem is that I have a post box at my gate (all the while ignoring the fact this has not been a problem in the past) but not one person has mentioned my consumer rights, offered a link to Royal Mail's T&C's, given advice on how the contract is actually formed etc. etc.POPPYOSCAR wrote: »If I remember correctly the postman was driving?

Not being he postman in question, how can I possibly answer this? And, again, how does this matter? That is exactly what the OP and yourself are doing. Comments like "Ok, so there are some decent people on here. " are typical of (new) posters only wanting to hear replies that agree with their POV.
Actually, I said that because that poster took the time to offer me some helpful advice rather than pick-apart my lies. I mean, story.0 -

Admittedly the OP hasn't made it clear whether the above is the case and this was part of the postman's normal round or was it indeed a specific parcel delivery by van. If the latter was the case then the chances are the delivery driver was possibly not their usual postman and therefore unfamiliar with the OP's delivery wishes and was hesitant to come onto their property.
For me I think Warby68 summed it up perfectly in post #240
