hi everyone
have just been offered £75 after claiming £230 from argos store card basically they said that it was the difference between the charge and the £12 ie new lower charge
they said they will pay it into the argos account
can i ask for a cheque instead and are they likely to pay it or will they just knock it off what i owe them serious debts with council tax gas electric and single parent of wtc ctc etc
would prefer the £75 in my purse as opposed to off the amount owing as i have just agreed special terms with them no interest charges and they are accepting £1 month
not trying to take advantage but just desperate
thanks guys
thanks desperate got 4 days left to give an answer???Save 12k in 2015 member 187. £62.50/60000 -

Okay, got home today and Barclaycard have written to me and have agreed to credit me £256 + 8% against the £910.64 (inc. 8% interest) I claimed.
Has anyone had any experience/success in offering to 'split the difference' (i.e. offering to settle at £583.32... 'as a gesture of goodwill' from my part of course!)
Thanks to all who have directly and indirectly helped me so far :money:

O.
I wouldn't call it success in splitting the difference with Barclaycard, I was offered roughly 50% of the sum I reclaimed, I refused the offer, informed them I was taking County Court action which I did for the full amount plus interest plus court fees. It took time but I received the full amount claimed plus the interest and costs. In my opinion this is the only way to get the full amount claimed. If you enter into dialogue they will try to offer the difference between £12 and whatever their original charge was even though the £12 suggestion by the OFT only came into effect in April 2006.
I was successful for my two student offspring against Barclaycard, one by
going the Court route and the second because I claimed that a precedent had been set by paying out to myself and my daughter.
Barclaycard were the lot where one of their senior managers when I started the claims and I spoke to, stated that they knew they had to pay out but they weren't going to make it too easy for me.
From my eperience you will be wasting your time trying to barter with them, if you can afford it go the court route.0 -

I am surprised that they refer to the ongoing court case. The reclaiming of
charges for credit cards has nothing to do with the court case, it is about bank charges. You should remind them that they have their facts wrong.
County court action, or the FO would be routes I would take to reclaim your default charges.
Today I received the last of my successful claims against credit card companies - the Bank Of Scotland, and I was rather amused by a paragraph of their response begrudgingly repaying me the full amount I had claimed.
It read -
"We are not required or obliged to refund retrospective charges that have been applied to your account however as a gesture of goodwill you were offered the return of half the charges. You indicate that this is unsatisfactory and seek the full amount. As a ruling has been made by the OFT on the acceptable level for a credit card penalty we were not minded to provide a full refund of the charges that you have incurred. Having
reviewed your file we propose paying you the full amount".
I had already agreed to remove two £12 charges yet they ended up paying the oriiginal amount claimed. It is no wonder that they take so long to respond to what is a simple repayment issue when they write such longwinded letters justifying their existence as Customer Relations.0 -
Hi im rather new to this reclaiming but am in the process of trying to claim my PPI back and it has set me off. I know that i have had charges put upon me for Credit Card late payments and also Store cards but as these have now been paid off for some time i do not have any details of the account/card numbers and have moved home several times since. Is there anyway i can get details of these, as i was shifting balances from credit cards there were also a few of these.
Kind Regards
becky
paid of all my debts finally last July and have since saved over 15k , yippee but still want the money back i am owed !0 -

Well, I've written to them offering to settle for £700 (I originally claimed £910) and we'll see what they say. It might be a long-shot but you never know. I've told however, if they don't accept this I'll go to court.
As a back-up I've fully completed my claim on the MoneyClaim site so all I have to is click 'submit' if they don't settle.
Thanks for the advice though!

I didn't have either of my BarclayCard account numbers and have moved around a fair bit too but I was able to get the account numbers by calling them and confirming stuff like my DOB and the last registered address.
They didn't mind trying 4 or 5 addresses before we got to the right one!
Good luck!!

hi! i have never applied on the phone, only by post or online.
After reading the article, I found out that I cannot reclaim for online applications. Does it still count for posted applications?
Also, I lied on the forms about income and house value to get £30k credit limits. What effect does this have?
Thanks0
