Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

Hiya, Just to let you know that I used martins template letter for asking for the statements, but deleted the bit about enclosing £10 to cover the charge. Today I received a mass of statements from the halifax for free, and within a week of me sending them my request! So well pleased about that!
Just wondering what you guys reckon, I've added up the late payment charges and the over limit charges. It comes to £395. However when I paid of the card, via the collection agency, the reduced the total by £285 and the statements show that they abandoned the £285. How much of the charges should I ask for them to refund?
Oh and do I claim for the interest?
Thanks!0 -
Hi - we claimed for Lloyds credit card charges and the debt was with a DCA - they (DCA) offered us a reduced amount to pay off, which we did, but we still chased lloyds for charges, and they paid - ALL of them!! Keep going, the money they have charged you is YOUR money, and as i see it, we wouldn't be in as much debt if the charges + interest were not on our accounts :rotfl:DEBT free:j0

I would like some information about Capital One Credit Card.
I succesfully claimed my charges back, but I was informed today (only after I phoned them) that even though they paid the reclaimed charges into my over the limit credit card account (wait for it) .. it is not a payment! Pleas let me know what it is if it is not a payment!0 -
Yes, I have and I have just been offered over £600!
Are you having problems with them?0 -
Just posted this elsewhere so sorry for duplicating. I was just wondering if the courts are automatically staying credit card claims or does this just relate to bank charges refunds via court
Thank you0 -
Hi ali,
I phoned HSBC to ask for my credit card statement, they sent me 6 years worth for free!
Halifax are pulling your chain I believe. Send them a letter from the template menu which is a "subject access request" under the data protection act, they cannot refuse this and enclose a cheque for £10. Ive written to 5x ex-creditors and only 2 are not playing ball right now.
definately recommend ignoring them , writing a letter using templates and enclose cheque for £10. I spent £50 on SAR letters, and just one of my creditors alone owe me £76 including interest, so ive made my money back if they pay up!
good luck
I got a response form HSBC today, they are offering £115 refund! considering I was only claiming for the £76 I think ill be accepting thank you!
They have been nothing but helpful and courteous from the start and I recommend anyone with a HSBC account (credit card) call them now! they even send you statements and lists of charges free!!!!!!!0 -

I thought that it was only bank charges, that's how I read it on Martin's blog - I am trying to get credit card charges back from GE Capital - they have quoted the bank charges case at me, have written back to them, that I am chasing credit card charges, NOT bank!!!:eek:DEBT free:j0 -
I filed in a claim on 13/08/2008. Received a letter on 15/08/2008 saying that they would refund me £179.28 as goodwill. Therefore I sent another template letter threatening them to court if they do not fully refund me. I receieved a final response letter yesterday and they agreed to refund me a total of £503.28 including interest.
It is a good offer. But I am now very puzzled, How come there a difference between our calculations? The letter says: "Having checked our records, I can confirm that you have been charged fees totalling £503.28 including 8% interest"
Shall I ask them to enclose a break down of the refund? I double checked the caluclation and seems that the charges should be totalling of £603.25. Shall I go for the extra £100? Or go to the FOS striaght away (since the letter says the FOS would treat it as a final response)?
Anyway, thank God and Martin , at least I've got majority (on this card) of the money back.Barclays: Claimed £603.25 / received £503.28 - chasing the differences (with FOS)
[strike]Egg: Claimed £337.1 / received 337.83[/strike]
Capital One: Claimed £234.06 (with FOS)
[strike]HSBC: Claimed £392.66 / received £502.54[/strike]
[STRIKE]Barclay Loan PPI Reclaimed around £2000.[/STRIKE]
Capital One Credit Card PPI with FOS. Barlcay current account: In progress0
