I filed in a claim on 13/08/2008. Received a letter on 15/08/2008 saying that they would refund me £179.28 as goodwill. Therefore I sent another template letter threatening them to court if they do not fully refund me. I receieved a final response letter yesterday and they agreed to refund me a total of £503.28 including interest.

It is a good offer. But I am now very puzzled, How come there a difference between our calculations? The letter says: "Having checked our records, I can confirm that you have been charged fees totalling £503.28 including 8% interest"

Shall I ask them to enclose a break down of the refund? I double checked the caluclation and seems that the charges should be totalling of £603.25. Shall I go for the extra £100? Or go to the FOS striaght away (since the letter says the FOS would treat it as a final response)?
Anyway, thank God and Martin , at least I've got majority (on this card) of the money back.

Why don't you call Barclays and ask them where they got their figures from - then you could argue with them that you have a different amount and see what they say - Did you ask for a breakdown initially?:o

  • Also, if you have your figures correct, it's your money - and they owe it back to you

  • Mizuno, give them a call and query it.

Have a look at my thread here where another bank made a blunder in the calculations. Had I not pursued it I'd have been none the wiser.

Well done in your success so far. :T

does anyone have an address for Royal Bank of Scotland?

my other half had a credit card with them that he closed about 3 years ago- he cannot find any details at all..............but we do believe that he was charged!

Apologies if this info is on the site somewhere-i have searched!
  • Sent letters to Halifax and Tesco, received replies from both. Tesco was a standard letter saying no, Halifax was offering £34 of the £144. I am in need of help now

have you sent second letters? If not I would send second letter - If you have and that is their final response - you could pursue claim through FOS - all details are on this website - just follow the instructions, and the form for FOS is really easy, you can cut and paste the wording - good luck:o

  • Hi all,

I have had quite a few credit cards over the last 5 years, most of which have been closed for a while and I no longer have the statements or details.

I'm just wondering, if I phoned each company up and explained that I just wanted some information regarding my old account, if you think they would be able to find any details?

I am positive that I was charged for late payments or over limits, I don't know how much in total but I would be interested to see what charges were made and whether it would be worth putting some claims in!

    Thanks x
