  • Provider: Capital one
    Amount Reclaimed: 403.29 including interest

    Amount they paid:403.29
The story: wrotr the template letters and got standard bog off replies. Wrote to FOS in November and got goodwill offer on 21st January. Money will be taken off my outstanding balance.
PPI reclaim from them is with FOS so if that goes the same way my balance will be completely clear.
I MAY HAVE NOTHING.....BUT ITS MY NOTHING
  • Just phoned Debenhams (in India) about £12.37 charge for overlooking a £15 bill for three days. Eventually got to talk to someone in the U.K. and quoted MSE and the ombudsman advice. Within seconds all the charges were withdrawn. Well Done to MSE. Dennis
  • Provider H.B.O.S.
    Amount claimed £843
    Paid £843

Put a claim in August last year. The usual fob off letters ensued so I lodged complaint with the Ombudsman.
    They paid the lot.:rotfl:

    Martin you are a star.
  • Provider: Egg
    Amount reclaimed: £476.76
    Amount paid: £476.76

The total above includes all charges I have ever had (including the recent £16 ones) and interest worked out with the calculator on this site.

Only took 3 weeks to get all the money back.... Used template letters first - after the second template I was offered £40 in full and final settlement. Sent back a letter written myself justifying exactly why I should have the money back and within 3 days of sending I had an offer from EGG for the full amount!

Have been offered 50% of the amount I tried to reclaim from HSBC (£150 out of £300) but have written back saying I will accept £150 without prejudice but want £250 - this is the amount minus the recent £12 charges. Am waiting to hear back.....

    Thank you!!

I have succesfully reclaimed £919 in charges from an old visa & mastercard account now settled and closed. Offer letter is for both claims. Started process in August and had to email the chief exec a few times but at last a result!
I have actually filed a complaint with the FOS which I will retract when money in my account. Many thanks to everyone for continued encouragement on this invaluable site:rotfl:

To date I have succesfully reclaimed £1500 in credit card charges and a further £1800 in bank charges with £1555 pending the test case. :p
  • Claimed £474 (including interest)
    Received £474

The story - claimed £474 including interest, received a cheque for £207 two weeks later, wrote back and told them I wanted the rest or would proceed to court, received the full balance 10 days later.

    Capital One
    Claimed £702.54
Offered £210 if I sign and return their settlement form 3 weeks later

Wrote back and said I would accept the £210 as partial payment of the full claim. A week later received another letter saying the £210 is their final offer and that I should accept it instead of wasting the court's valuable time.

Am going to file a MCOL now

Amount Reclaimed: £1100 on 2 cards
Amount they paid: £1150 (not going to enquire over the extra £50....)
The story: After sending all the letters, and being messed around with them "calculating their version of the charges" I filed with MCOL, got 2 letters today (1 for each account ) off Scratchi and Scratchi their lawyers refusing to accept liability but issuing a "good will" gesture of the full amount.
I did have fun playing the "I fought the Lloyds" song in a nice packed TSB yesterday, I have it as my ringtone. There was some sniggering going on in the queue.... lol

Martin if you and your gang are ever in Liverpool, give me a shout and I'll shout you all a pint. You rock mate.

  • Claimed: £1,691.45
    Awarded: The full amount, baby!:T:rotfl:
    Bank: MBNA/Abbey

The Story: I wrote the first standard letter to Abbey and they offered me a goodwill amount of £532. I forgot about the letter last year but made up my mind this year that I would commit to getting serious about it. I wrote a letter to them again (in my mind, starting the process again from scratch) in January. Just got a letter when I got home, offering me the full amount of the claim & a cheque in 10 working days!!

Now I can and WILL be making a donation to the site.

    HALLELUYAH!!!

Claimed: £135 including interest and court costReceived: £135A year later!! I think Halifax thought I wouldn't bother to keep chasing such a small amount, but hey it all adds up! So I did. They sent a supposedly scarey looking legal document saying that it should be stayed due to the test case. I disputed this as it is not a bank account, but the local court upheld it. I persisted and wrote back to the court and Halifax using Martin's template, arguing that this has nothing to do with the test case. A few days' later, about the 10th letter from Halifax complaints dept arrives, offering me the full amount. They've wasted nearly a year wrangling over this paltry sum, and paid up in the end anyway, as I knew they would!
