Hi every1,
I've already got my bank statements and i'm already half way through highlighting the unfair charges and tomorrow i'm going to send letters out to both my credit card companies for the last 6 years statements to do the same.
My question is, should i make photocopies of all my highlighted statements for my records before i send them off with my first letter for refund or is there no need?
Thanks
David
You dont need to send the actual statements, just a list of charges and dates and interest if you are asking for it.DS1 12/10/04

Provider: MBNA Europe Bank
Amount Reclaimed: £1158 plus £286.09 (total £1444.09)
Amount they paid: £1444.09
The story:
First wrote to MBNA in August 2008 and within a week or so, they had responded with 6 years worth of statements and a list of fees, so they already knew what I was up to.
I calculated all my charges and used the 2nd template letter from this site, instructing them I was putting in a claim for all charges including £12 charges after June 2006 plus interest. I wasn't playing games, I wanted the lot back.
At the start of November, after about a 2 or 3 week period, they wrote back saying that they agree with their fees, blah blah blah, so they offered me £378.50, which was the amount of difference between £20 and £25 fees and the £12 fee which they agree with.
In my opinion, they've taken almost £1500 of my money, which I work hard for and have done since I was 16, so I thought, no, I don't accept. I then used the next template from this site saying, I accept it as a part offer, but I still require the remainder I claimed for or I would go through the county court etc and gave them 14 days before I would.
Had a shocking day at work on Wednesday, but when I got home, I had a letter from them. I opened it and inside was a letter and a leaflet to advise me how to contact the omburdsman. I thought, here we go, just my luck I don't get anymore and have to go to court. How wrong I was. They said although they disagree with my complaint and strongly agree with their charges, to keep the relationship between them and I strong, they would pay the remainder of my complaint, therefore, I got the whole lot I asked for back. I'm so happy.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Martin and anyone involved in this site. Over the last 4 years, I've paid off £20,000 in debt and now have nothing against my name and what a feeling it is.
Good luck to everyone else who might be claiming and clearing debt. You'll get there guys, with a little fight and persaverance.30 years of comping = 0 wins.
10 years of Lottery = £15.50.
I'm sorry for anything I did wrong in a previous life. But, please let me win an iPad.0 -
Hi all
well thanks to this site i have had 3 success as follows
egg : Claimed 47.77, got 47.77
Natwest : Claimed £290 got £280
Lloyds TSB: Claimed £190 got £120
Had to pay egg £10 for the list of charges which surprised me how few i had but i followed it through and they paid after just one letter including the interest. Took about 3 weeks after initial request fo charges.
Natwest played slightly harder, but didnt charge me for charges list. At first they just offered the difference, but after the second letter they offered me £280 not sure why it was £10 short but they seemed a bit confused with the correspondance they sent me. The last letter they sent said they would offer me £32 but the actual form they sent for to accep there offer was £280. I underlined it and signed it. Got a cheque this morning very happy.
LloydsTSB - Didnt think i would get much joy here the card was cancelled over 3 years ago. Again i wasnt charged and they said they would offer the difference in the charges between £20 and £12 pound and then sent me a cheque for £120 so i decided to just accep tthat.
So far about an hour and a halfs work and £30 i have got back about £450 a result as far as i am concerned. Not as much as some people but it is money i didnt think i had and so have now cleared my virgin credit card. I still have a claim against them.
Just got to wait for my mis-sold ppi claim to go through now. However main lesson i have learned is i am going to be debt free from now on, i am not letting the money grabbers grab my money any more and have taken much greater control over my finances, i'm not perfect but much better, stick with it everyone its worth it.
thanks

A newbie so hope I am in the right place! Remember apart from credit card refunds, there is also the possibility of credit card write-offs which maybe Martin has already covered. It would interesting to know the criteria for this.

Talking of overcharging - watch out for Ticketmaster the theatre agency with their 20% booking fees. I am sure Martin will tell you that you can book online directly with the theatre box office or visit the box office yourself for no charge! OK! A booking fee is understandable - but 20%. Over to you OFT.

Barclaycard; Claimed £1419.00 inc interest
Refunded; £1200.00
After initial reply from barclaycard offering £292 the diff between the current £12 charge, i sent second letter requesting the remainder and it was refunded onto my account in a matter of days, whole process took just over 4 weeks & i now have no credit card balance and the remainder hitting my bank account in the next few days just intime for xmas. Its worth keeping on at them & pushing for all your money back. Thanks to Martin & everyone on this site :money: :beer:0 -

Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £110
Amount they paid: £151.20:j
The story:
Claimed in original letter to Barclaycard £140 Given £8
In second letter pointed out total charges + interest= £151.20. Said 'give me another £102 and we'll call it quits= £110 total' Today they have credited my account with £143.20 :j :j :j :j
So, although I only asked for £110 total in my 'final demand' they coughed up the full amount + interest
Seems to me the credit card folks are running scared...0 -
I am a newbie to posting messages, so hope I am on the right thread.
I have just rec'd my statements from Cap1 this morning, they have a lost of charges as long as my arm, then from 2006 they have gone to £12.
I am getting a bit confused as to what I can claim for.
Do I claim for all these £12 fees too, or just the £20 fees that they charged before 2006?
Thanks in advance for replies

Charges totalling £208 refunded in full. Followed advice from another thread that had the telephone number for Aqua complaints. Very polite and fast, done by phone and I was given the option of taking the amount off my balance or having a direct payment made to me.:T0
