It is a victory, but only a small one. Wondering if I should send just one more letter........

  • Don't accept the £120, keep at it for the full amount and you will get it all back.

    Bank: John Lewis Partnership Card
    Amount Reclaimed: £12
    Amount they paid: £12
The story: I was charged two £12 fees, one for over going over limit and another as an admin fee--these were due to my changing bank accounts for direct debit payments, and their cancelling my existing DD but not setting up the new DD, resulting in non-payment. Rang to dispute both, and the first £12 fee was removed, but I used MSE's template letter to dispute the "admin" fee. Received letter from John Lewis with the second £12 fee immediately refunded. Couldn't have been easier.
  • Firstly can I say thanks to Martin Lewis and all that administer this site.

    (HBOS)Halifax Credit Card

    Amount claimed £885

First offer that I declined £405

    Amount recived £885

It has taken just under three months to recive this money, using only the standard letters from this site and the cost of 3 first class stamps!

    Thanks again Martin:D

    The story:

Simply. I read Martin's article. I already had all my backdated statements so I just downloaded and sent the inital letter that Martin reccomended, requesting a full refund.
Two - three weeks later, I think, I got my offer of the full total. 4 weeks later it was all depoisted into my account.
I had a £700 overdraft limit with them, which I cleared off straight away. I was also able to clear off another small debt that I had and now Im on my way to being DEBT FREE and able to look at SAVING AND INVESTMENT OPTIONS!
    THANK YOU MARTIN.
Barclays however, refused to reimburse me of £1025 and instead sent me a goodwill offer of £25, which I obviously refused and made an appeal with the Ombudsman, who has put the matter on hold until after the decision of the test case. So now I'm waiting on the court hearing, hoping it will be favourable, as well as exploring other options to reduce my debt with them.

    The story:
Wrote first Letter asking for charges back, received letter back offering £250 refund. I refused and after another letter to chase things up I received my letter this morning informing me they will refund £1334 as a goodwill gesture.
Doesnt clear of my total balance as the months it took to deal with this they were still piling on late payment and over limit fees despite me arguing with them constantly on the phone whenever they would take the minimum payment from my bank account leaving me skint!(thats another story tho sorry)
But £1334 is better than nothing and £1334 off my total debt so I am happy (honest)

Thanks to everyone who gives advice on here yous are a godsend!!

    I've been refunded today :money:

£129.60 in my account. I called to ask what the credit was and they didn't even know!!

One man even said it was a mistake and said he was taking the money out of my account as 'Barclaycard never refund anyone'.

 I hate call centres!!! ARGH!!

Anyway they paid up after just one letter that I wrote myself and the money is in my account within a week on posting!
