Hi, I was going through old statements with MBNA and found loads of £25 late fees that go back a few years 2002/2006 they then charge me £12late fees.
Will I be able to make a claim?
I also noted that I was being charged ppi and have won a case already as I had existing medical conditions which would have meant I couldn't claim!
I was also working part time when I took out the card so not sure if I can claim or not as it was years ago.0 -
Credit Card Reclaiming Success Stories
Provider: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: no idea of amounts
Amount they paid: 10163
The story: I took the plunge after finally paying off my HSBC credit card this year, didn't realise I had PPI on the card until this time last year when I cancelled it while I started getting a grip of my finances. Downloaded the questionnaire from MSE reclaiming guide, filled it in, sent it off. Received a letter telling me they were investigating my claim and I would hear within 8 weeks. Received one phone call to discuss what I had written in the questionnaire. I was told I would receive a letter outlining the decision. Letter received yesterday detailing amount to pay in redress - happy with the decision. Acceptance letter to send back and then money transferred to my account.
Thanks to Martin for going on for all this time about reclaiming PPI and to MSE for the Reclaiming Guide and questionnaire template. I finally took the plunge and got the result I wanted. It was easy and all it took was the price of a stamp.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Provider : Tesco credit card
Amount reclaimed: 925
Amount they paid : 925
The story: asked for details of charges in September and enclosed a £10 cheque. Replied with list in approx. 2 weeks and returned cheque. Sent letter to ask for charges to be refunded and added interest. I have had 3 letters saying they are looking into case further and each has given me the date the would write to me by. They have been really good and honoured all dates and today a letter saying they believe charges are fair but as a goodwill gesture they would repay me the full amount claimed.I signed e form and cheque will be with me no later than 20 days.

Bank Charges are one of the major sources of income for banks. All banks impose charges on certain failed transactions e.g. a bounced cheque, exceeding overdraft limits, returned direct debits etc. Indeed, banks are allowed to impose charges that reflect the amount of work undertaken by administrative staff in certain situations such as customers going into the red or handling a cheque which cannot be cleared due to insufficient funds in the account.0

Looks like I may have a success story on my hands. Just returned my acceptance of the offer the bank made for their mis-selling of PPI on my credit card. I took the card out in 1993 and it was used extensively upto about five years ago when I started to seriously pay it off. At one point I had as much as £11000 on it. I'm now down to £800 owing, but if they give me the cash, I'll be debt free for the first time in my life. How much I hear you say?
£23000!!!!!!!. And yes, there are three zeros in that figure!
So if you're considering reclaiming, just follow Martin's advice and go for it.
The money's not in the bank yet, but it's looking like it may be a good result.0 -
Provider - Lloyds
Amount reclaimed - £46,106
Amount paid - £46,100
The story - rang Llloyds PPI claim line in August'13 to register my claim. I had very little details of dates/amounts etc but they said they would look into it & write to me within 4weeks. They did write explaining that they were investigating & would contact me with a decision within 4 weeks. In October they wrote to me confirming that my claim was upheld & the offer was £46,100. I had to do nothing more and they paid the £46,100 into my account within a fortnight which closed the case. Very nice reading on my bank statement!0 -
Hi
I had a Halifax credit card from 2000 to 2008 and I know that I incurred a lot of charges. Can I still claim for this period?0 -
Thanks to MSE I received a cheque this morning for £348!! It was so simple - I had been paying Card Protection to Halifax for years so I gave them a telephone call last week. I was told that someone would investigate and call me back the following day which they did! I had no hassle at all and received the cheque this morning! Done and dusted in a week!!! 👍👍👍😃😃😃🍷0

Replying to person with Halifax 2001-2008,i am unsure if it is still possible to claim for charges on credit cards, hope we haven't 'missed the boat'. I am trying a few out and changing the' last six years' on the template with 'since I opened my account', put the dates on if you know them. Am hoping it works and still putting in a claim. 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained'. If anyone knows if it is still ok, would be grateful to hear.0
