Provider: Tesco
Amount Reclaimed: £500 (With interest as per pro forma on MSE)
Amount they paid: £570 (With annual card rate of 16.90%)
The story:
Sent the template letter claiming the statutory interest rate, total being around £500. I received a letter approximately a week later to say they were sorry I have a concern regarding my charges, Tesco consider them fair blah blah and as a goodwill gesture they would be refunding me all charges plus daily interest being 16.9%!
This was gladly signed off and put into the mail box immediately, HOWEVER, I jumped the gun and realised that it then states that a refund will be applied into any accounts that are still open - which includes ME.
Can I ask that this be sent as a cheque as I don't wish to have it paid to my balance?
Could I sneakily transfer my balance to another credit card and then they would have to send me a cheque as I don't have an open account?
Thanks to the MSE board

Thanks for any replies in advance!0 -
Provider: Bank of Scotland
Amount Reclaimed:Wasnt sure how much I could claim back
Amount they paid: £5216
The story:
Completed the PPI consumer questionnaire with the help from this website, posted it off, one week later recieved a letter of acknowledgement, one week after that had a telephone call to ask me a few more questions. Two weeks later ( yesterday) recieved a letter to advised that my complaint had been agreed and that I would receive by 30th June 2013 £5126.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Martin Lewis and team for giving me courage to do this on my own.:T
I am delighted with the result, I am excited now for my cheque !!!0 -
Dear Martin and all at MSE,
Thank you so much for your brilliant advice regarding credit card payments and the 1975 Act.
After 7 years of sometimes awful situations we have finally been refunded all £10,800 that we stupidly paid to a Tenerife holiday club company who
had tricked us/miss sold to us.
After three or four letters to the credit card company Halifax with whom we paid a £2,300 deposit we rec’d this small fortune together with interest a few weeks ago.
This is down to you guys –thank you so very much; we used your reclaim form and had fortunately kept all the information relating to these
nasty people – Freedom Holiday Vacation.
Just brilliant – we feel like we’ve won the lottery and it has made such a massive difference to our lives not only financially but emotionally as well.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Keep up the great work but please watch your backs.
Kind regards0 -

Hello, needed to share two letters to mint credit cards in 3 months
I asked for 250£ and got what I asked for and interest which worked out at £500 which means I've paid my mint card off!!!! So pleased, I'm doing so well
£300 of Halifax taken of my debt to them.
£119 of Halifax PPI paid to me.
Having issues with the banks though taken Lloyds TSB to ombudsmen. HSBC and Barclays plying hard ball.
Natwest just worked my way through six years of statements!
I'm in hardship have been for a while and thanks to this site I'm chipping away at it everyday.0 -

How did you manage to calculate £500 interest (or even £250 if £500 was the total you received) on just £250 charges up to a maximum of 6 years??? :huh:0 -
The charges total was 250.00£ and as interest and good will mint gave me a further 250.00£. That is a total of 500.00£.
Hope that clears anything up.0 -
Just thought I would add some success I've had to this discussion.
I've so far sent claims to 4 different credit cards for the £12 over-limit and late payment fees.
The cards are Tesco, Capital One, Lloyds TSB and HSBC.
So far I've had full settlement from Tesco for an amount of around £220, this card only took 1 letter and they paid up.
Yesterday I received settlement from HSBC, which took me sending the original letter, followed by the letter threatening court action. They have now paid up in full, plus more! I asked for £138 which included statutory interest, yet I received a good will offer of £215! I can only think it was because they saw how much of a cash cow I've been in the past through overdraft fees and took pity on me.
I've had replies from Capital One and Lloyds TSB point blank refusing to pay up, so I'm now thinking of going the court action route with these. Does anybody have experience with these companies? Do they ever pay up?
Big thanks to this site for existing... I'm slowly getting back on my feet after years of debt.0 -

Congratulations ! Which was the letter Tesco paid you from? I have just asked for statements and sent the £10. Could you tell me how long the process rom start to finish took with themthanks

It was literally the first letter I sent to Tesco! Check the reclaiming guide and the first letter template is all it took for them to cough up. We're talking about 2 weeks to get the reply. This was last August when I claimed from them so it may take more work now, but hopefully not though. Good luck with it!0
