At Lidls I love to buy the following :-
Colslaw - ideal when you've got the out-laws visiting.
Cornish Pasties
Own brand chocolate (especially the nut bars!)
Black Bin bags (stronger than any others I've bought)
Shampoo and Conditioner (smells of peaches)
Baby Wipes and nappies (give Pampers a run for their money)
Tinned mackerel in tomato sauce (lovely on toast!)
Long Live Lidls !!!A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
For tea tonight I had half a packet of Lidl own brand raspberry Jaffa cakes and more than one large portion of Lidl ice cream speckled with little slivers of chocolate. It was the loveliest yummiest tea I have had in yonks and I can feel my bum spreading over the seat in agreement as I type.0

Hi All
Thanks for all the great replies!
Managed to get hubby to take me yesterday about 5.30'ish and TBH wasnt very impressed  Maybe i was unlucky on this occasion.
First problem was my wheelchair and getting on there..lol. Boxes everywhere, hubby pushing me and daughter pushing trolley.
Anyway, bought most items (also a few extras). There was no fruit or veg by the time i went. I spent £31.00 which IMO seemed alot for what I got, especially as that included no fruit, lamb mince, veg or salad. So will have to spend at least another £10-£14. Hubby & daughter put a few things in trolley, but these couldnt of cost more than about a fiver!
Personally, I thought these items were good value:
Medium Cheddar £1.89 500g
Black Bags £0.49 20 strong ones
Dishwasher tablets £1.79 for 30 (3 in 1)
Jaffa Cakes £0.59 Double pack
Spagetti Hoops £0.11
Baked Beans £0.15 seem nice and thick
Own brand Utterly Butterly £0.59 500g
Rice pudding tin £0.15
Cup soups £0.35 for pack of 5
Sunflower oil £0.44 1 litre
Honey Ham £1.19 250g
Meatballs £0.35 large tin (hubby likes these-yuk!)
lemonade £0.19 2 litres
Biscuits all under £0.25 packet
Dog Food In Tube £0.29 (enough for 3 meals)
Dog Mixer 4kg £1.19 Very Cheap!
Kettle Crisps £0.49 Treat
Bodingtons £2.29 for 4 tins (normally £3.50-treat)
Cottage cheese £0.39 medium tub
Think I will stick with Asda for main shop, then maybe every 3-4 weeks stock up on cheddar, ham, dishwasher tabs, tinned items(beans, butterbeans, spagetti, meatballs, toms etc)biscuits.
I saw the mozarella for £0.49 in a squishy bag but had a short date on it and as I have never cooked with it before, thought Id leave it till I know how to make the pizza base
The quality of most food items looked very good, but was abit gutted that there was no fruit, veg, salad or minced lamb. I did buy a packet of chicken burgers to see what they were like and had a chicken breast meat content of 97% which is excellent-think the other 3% was made up of breadcrumbs etc.
Thank you all so much

That's one of the problems I have with Lidls - they don't have everything I want. I don't buy much in packets or jars but do buy a lot of fruit, veg and milk so Asda has remained my primary shop when I'm working.
During school holidays, Lidls is a better bet because I can go first thing in the morning. I'd perservere though - it took me a couple of trips to get used to the layout and limited range.0 -
I shop at Aldi. Have done every week for years, even after a Lidl and Netto opened in my home town. I just lurve Aldi food. Hubby drinks Aldi beer with widget in can, £2.69 for four cans.He says tastes much smoother than John Smiths, Aldi chocolate is easier to eat than say Kitkats or other English brands, which taste very fatty after you are used to the Aldi brand. Aldi shower gels are good family value, 49p each and plenty of variety, all the family use these, with added moisturisers.
I like Lidl and Netto for their bargains, and love looking at their flyers which come round weekly advertising what will be on offer the next week. Great for camping gear.
Netto is great for branded goods,eg Flora selling at approx 90p with a small Flora Light free. My cats and dog love Aldi pet food and Netto pet food, but not so keen on Lidl. Netto and Lidl great for fresh meat, like mince, pork chops, chicken turkey, especially Netto for joints.
All 3 shops have a lot going for them, and you will save money time after time by switching and shopping at either of them. Take your pick!keep smiling,
