Inside you can take boxes from the shelves or just lying about to pack your stuff into - I always do that, as I inevitably forget to bring plastic bags - they are environmentally friendlier than bags anyway. The boxes double as cat beds when I get home then get recycled when tatty.

Me too! Instead of getting a trolley (I would never remember to take a pound coin with me) I empty out a "nearly-empty" veg box and put my shopping in that, and then when I get to the checkout I just fill it back up. If you get lots of veg, it does get a bit heavy, so I just leave it somewhere and keep coming back to it.

As someone else said, remember to put your heavy stuff at the front of the conveyor belt.

The veg is currently ½ price in Scottish stores only - it is great value and good quality. I do sort through stuff to get the freshest/best quality (and no doubt get funny looks off some people!).

It's 1/2 price in England to (or it is in the midlands) :)

Fair enough! I stand corrected! On the TV Ads up here it says "Scotland Only"! :)

Maybe there should be a "Great Half Price Veg In Lidl Hunt"!!! :p

1/2 price in manchester too. the selection of veg varies alot between stores i find. my nearest is fantastic, with absolutely any veg you could want. I've been loving cheap spinach, peppers, salad stuff, apples, bananas, nectarines. they had loads of stuff. but some i've been in are rubbish.

things you have to try... ICE CREAM (any of it, it's all great, espc the walnut one and the tiramisu one), BRATWURST (yummy german sausages), 100% BEEF QUATER POUNDERS (better than aberdeen angus if you ask me), CHOCOLATE RAISINS, 73% COCOA DARK CHOC, HALF BAKED BAGUETTES/CIABATTA, COOKED HAM (espc some of the smoky german ones).

All this is making me very hungry. yum.

Could do with one. I went last night and they'd only got a few bags of potaoes and a couple of manky apples, they'd sold out of everything else, the selves were just empty fake grass, maybe it was stocking up night or maybe they had been raided :D

Maybe they need to make us feel special with their TV ad, certainly no fake grass on the shelves at our branch, maybe yours is a posh branch?! :D

I normally go early on in the day to get the pick of the stock, later on there is not much left.

as previous posters have said the ice cream is fabulous, they do great breakfast packs here for £1.99 with black pudding, sausages, hashbrowns etc,the chocolate raisins are by far the best ive ever tasted and for those who have kids the nappies are good as are the fromage frais 12 pks for 89p.
also my hubbie uses the mens sport shower gel thats 39p and it is every bit as nice as lynx, gillete etc and we are both fussy about toilettries.........womens shower gel for 59p is good too.
