Whats Good Value At Lidls?

As far as I know, they only do bog standard milk, full fat and semi skimmed. Cheaper than Asda though.
Otherwise, I think you should be able to get most if not all of your list.
Oooh, don't know about Clover as I only buy butter, 53p in Lidl.
Their biscuits are very nice, I know you can definitely get gingernuts, 20p a pack I think.
I have tried their cat food (well, not personally) and the cats didn't like it. We buy dried dog food but haven't bought it. Might be a risk, maybe just buy a couple of tins to try?0 -
Penny-Pincher, not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but Lidl only accept debit cards and cash...no credit cards, no cheques, no coupons. The queue at the till might be a mile long but they go superfast at the till so don't let a long queue put you off, you'll soon get to the front. Just be prepared to chuck everything back into your trolley in a hurry and then pack at the window shelf behind the tills or outside.
Some stores have trolleys which take £1 coins, while other stores have trolleys which will accept a 20p or a 1p coin. Inside you can take boxes from the shelves or just lying about to pack your stuff into - I always do that, as I inevitably forget to bring plastic bags - they are environmentally friendlier than bags anyway. The boxes double as cat beds when I get home then get recycled when tatty.0 -
excuse me for being thick but what do you mean about putting tolleys the wrong way, do you mean pullimg thm backwards through the checkout or something, just incase I do the wrong thing and get banned!!!!!Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

When you have emptied your trolley you wheel it through and then have to turn it round so that the cashiers can throw all your stuff into your trolley, most are pretty understanding and can spot a newbie lidl's shopper and show you how.
For this reason it's very important to put all your heavy stuff at the front of the belt, otherwise your bread and veg get squashed by all the bargain cans can cartons and bottles youv'e just bought!
Take your trolley outside and load into bags and into your boot, as it's much easier than trying to do it on the ledge.0 -
Oh thanks foreverskint I don't think I've been doing it wrong then but we only have a small branch and the staff are fast but they don't ever put the stuff into my trolley, just on the other side of the checkout then I manically chuck it into the trolley:oWomen and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

I found out, that you can also pull the penny out, without putting the trolley back in the rack. Not entirely moneysaving, but if you ever wanted to nick a trolley and cause some mayhem, absolutely priceless0 -
I do all my shopping at Lidl, except meat (bought from local butcher) and veg (home-grown or farm shop).
I find the following very good value and very good quality
Cheese - Cheddar
Cheese - Feta
Cheese - Mozzarella
Cheese - Parmesan
Coffee – Espresso
Coffee - Ground
Flour – Bread
Meat - Black Forest Ham
Meat - Chorizo
Olive Oil
Pasta
Passata
Tin - Toms
Tin - Tuna
Tin – salmon
The tinned salmon is a piece of poached fillet - not the red John West stuff. I think it costs £1.09 (? not sure).
The Black Forest Ham is better than the Tesco Finest - thicker slices, more weight and only £1.39 (£3.29 in Tesco )
Best thing is ... as I only buy "non-perishables", I only go once every three monthsWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Fruit & veg (fresh) is usually good value at Lidl, and is quite often on 1/2 price offer. A huge jar of nice quality chocolate spread is 98p.
My friend raves about the luxury potato salad, & the coleslaw is very good but for the same sort of price as "value" products elsewhere. Ham & other cooked meats (packaged) are very good value. Steak pies (4 for £1.95_ & cheese & onion pasties (my once-a-month convenience food!) are very cheap & good quality. Toilet paper (4 ply quilted, £2.99 for 10 rolls - lasts for ages & looks as if it was expensive!)
Eggs are reasonable, 76p for 1/2 dozen free range, although I don't often buy them there, as they are usually dutch & I prefer to buy more locally. (70p for 1/2 dozen in local farmers market)
Mini jaffa cakes (ys favourite) 49p, & chocolate raisins 59p for a big bag.
The curry sauces are very good, 75p & a lot of choice. I prefer the korma one.
As far as trolleys goes, I have never been told about putting the trolley round one particular way, although we have to at Aldi. Perhaps I automatically put it th right way without being asked?
The Chelmsford Lidl doesnt have many trolleys, & I have been there when none are available. I asked in the shop & they told me to go next door & borrow one from Farmfoods! Only trouble was, the farmfoods ones didn't take my plastic euro from Cite europe, so I still had to wait for someone to finish with a Lidl trolley, cos I hadn't got a real pound coin!0 -
For anyone one with little ones the nappies are really good and down to £5.29 for a big pack, which would be £8.99 for pampers/huggies. Baby wipes are good too, baby bath and shampoo. Mine have a bit of eczema and find all their products fine.
They tend to do good deals on large bags of walkers crisps.
Booze is also good and cheap.
100 per cent beef burgers 8 for £1.79? at mo, great for the bbq.Hamburger relish 49p.
They have different offers on foods, so buy something new when it`s on offer, if you don`t like it, take back your receipt and they refund the price!!
Tinned fruit is good, we make ice lollies with it.
Going to try and do a full shop at Lidl this week, apart from a few things got a friend to get from morrisons for me-if I go I would come back with more!!
People tend to think that lidl, because it is cheap, has poor quality goods, but it`s not. I think they are a german company? germans have good stuff. sovsJAN Grocery Challange £200
Spent £154.88
FEB Grocery Challange £175 21-1 to 20-2
Spent to date £49.130 -
I used to think that Aldi, Netto and Lidl were the same but I've learned on here that Netto sells familiar brands at low prices. ALdi and Lidl sell imported stuff at low prices and that Aldi is nicer than Lidls.
Lidls certainly doesn't have the range of a small Asda and some of the prices are similar but generally you get either a cheaper price or better quality. Or both!0
