  • Hi,

Very quick question. Does anyone know if painkillers make you put on weight or retain weight in any way???

I'm on strong painkillers (codeine) for my back at the moment and despite staying on plan and being as active as I normally am (limited a bit due to the pain), I seem to be putting on weight.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas??

    Thanks in advance x

As far as I'm aware weight gain isn't a side effect of codeine, but some tablets are sugar coated (smooth ones) so there would be syns in them

  • Have you got that new baking book? I've bought it, not looked in it yet, but there's some good bits in there

  • kathrynha don't be so hard on yourself :) You're doing amazing just by having the determination to keep trying. A little comfort eating is certainly allowed right now. Just keep plodding along. Hopefully in the very near future you'll get the all clear and you can refocus yourself.

One of the hotels in a nearby town is doing a health and fitness drive in there leisure centre at the moment. Dragged myself and mom along today. We're now both signed up to the gym and pool for the next 3 years  We're going back on Thursday to get personalised gym programmes done up. It was a great offer anyway, and then they gave mom a further reduction for her age. Never been jealous of an OAP before :rotfl:

Really worried about the gym aspect. They told mom they'd go very easy on her because of her age and her fitness level. No such considerations for me and mom's probably fitter than I am :o What have I let myself in for?!

Well done for taking the plunge dawyldthing. And it sounds if your mum is a really good buddy for SW and now for Body Magic.:)

It's a difficult time all round for you kathrynha but you'll get through it. It wasn't so long ago that you find it difficult to stay on plan at work and you got over that. Just keep trying. We can only do our best.:)

When I arrived at coffee shop, my friend had bought 3 large slices of cake so we could have a trio of desserts! Fortunately other friend knows I don't really do sweet stuff so my share was packaged into a doggy bag and fed to DH!:D

I just looked up the homity pie recipe and my version with carrots and tomatoes is much better and contains more Speed. I'm sticking with my own.:)

  • My first weigh in as a SW target member.
I gained 1/2 lb. (Sorry I'm on my really old tablet, can't change colour/font)

I fully expected a much larger gain, as I had an amazing weekend away in Nottingham with my new boyfriend.

I'm now 1/2 lb under target... still following the plan.

I am also going to Nottingham for the weekend......but not with a new boyfriend....... just remember that there is no s*x before marriage....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ps if you see a group of very intoxicated middle aged women, pulling spirit bottles out of large handbags - it is us!

We were there last weekend. It was full of groups of men and women on pub crawls and the like. I love nottingham. Luckily it's just 30 minutes away on the train.

Trying to be on plan all week. I'm hoping to get towards the bottom of my target and get my 5 1/2 stone certificate next week.
