Deliveries re-starting?

on the card it will give how long to give before collection.
on of the reasons they wont be offering redelivery(i assume) is for the time its taking for items ot be sent back to the delivery offices as they go back in the same mail system as normal mail.
most offices remain open during the strikes for collections however if you get a red card i would call the delivery office.
if the items in the office there is no reason(bar strike) itt cant go out on redelivery or to a local post office.
also if you have another address within your delivery offices delivery area it can often be redirected there for you.
Thanks - I'm assuming that all these normal arrangements won't hold for next week - and there is never any point in trying to call the office (thanks too to wileycat - my thanks button is on strike in sympathy)0 -

yeah as said.most post offices get mail every day so forwarding local collects makes no difference.
same for redeliveries as long as its actually physically in the delivery office.0 -
Wasn't life easy when local offices (not just Royal Mail, of course) had local phone nos answered by real people? Thanks for being real people and helping out on this board.
And I fear that soon I'll be saying 'wasn't it easy when Royal Mail delivered to the Isle of Man at the basic UK price?'0 -
yeah unfortunatly you will soon look as now being the good old days

So (excuse me for being slighly dense) but will we not be getting ANY post at all for next week? i am expecting quite a few things and none seem to be turning up!0

no its rolling IA.so say monday the lorrys dont run(some would anyway though) ,next day its the mail centres, next day the delivery offices.
so wednesday woould be the only day there were no deliveries however mail is slowed down throughout the system.
note i dont have the specific days just now so dont go by the example i made0 -
Yes you should be receiving deliveries now, ie from wednesday onwards. So (excuse me for being slighly dense) but will we not be getting ANY post at all for next week? i am expecting quite a few things and none seem to be turning up!
Next strike day for delivery is Tuesday.
But if you live in Liverpool, SW/SE London, Glasgow and a few other areas unofficial strike action is still occuring over local matters where postman are being unfairly suspended and union representatives being victimised in the workplace. This might be why you're not getting anything.
Items are flowing through the system, there is a backlog, thats to be expected after 4 days of strike action! Certainly finally made the media interested at least!0 -
I called royal mail customer services today to ask about a parcel sent special delivery on Wednesday, it still hasn't left the senders sorting office. When I asked about strikes next week he told me he had no idea what I was talking about???? But was very quick to inform me I the money couldn't be claimed back as next day delivery hadn't be guaranteed, even though I hadn't asked that. Also, since I'm in Liverpool, I haven't had any mail delivered for over a week now.Sigless0
