okay there are definatly massive back logs of mail still to clear at the mail centres.
AFAIK some mail centres are drafting in agency staff to try and clear it ASAP
this also includes mount pleasant where the international items come in so be aware of this if you are expecting stuff coming in.
also im guessing custom charge items will be delayed further

    This is bonkers.

I met my postie about 20 mins before he got to me. He said today would completely clear the mail in the system, so I pictured the poor bloke with roughly 7 times his usual delivery. Er, no.

He delivered, at exactly the same time as usual, 4 items of post (about my daily average), but none of the missing important stuff - including one thing I know was sent 1st class on 28th.

He also said the vans were on the road with nothing left at the sorting office, so I'll see whether I get the packet sent 1st class signed for on 1st.

he is most likely referring to what isi n the sorting office so they have cleared what they have.
unless a manager phones to find out you dont know what happens or what the status is in the mail centres.
from what ive heard of the backlog theres no way they cleared it today

At 3.15 (definitely later than usual) I had an item of post delivered. I got the email to say it had been despatched YESTERDAY.

Absolutely no sign of any of the missing items.....is the backlog just going to sit there? Wherever 'there' is!

My experience is different to yours Wendy, my post is all old post, none of it posted in the past 4-5 days at all so it looks like in my area they are delivering oldest first. I've also started getting personal stuff, some books I bought at the start of the strike arrived today and my delivery was back to its usual 1 pm ish time.

Funnily enough, throughout the strike we had post delivered earlier at home than normal (by 8 am), earlier at work (by 10 am, when it's been 12.30 the last month or so), and my OH had his post delivered at work (around noonish, as normal). That's in 3 completely different locations.

Yesterday we had no post at home or at either workplace.

Today at work I had a mixture of second class and first class post, all posted within the last couple of days. I'm somewhat confused....
