    totally posssible.
    heres the scenario
relativly new guy goes on delivery and his manager convinces him he will be finished in good time so he can take out this 2nd duty afterwards for some overtime.
of course new guy takes longer going round and finishes his 1st duty at say 3pm
now he has all the mail of the 2nd duty to deliver.
his office would be closed now so he has no support/help/advice while he his on the street at this time

i got caught this way once when i was fairly new :o was out around 5.30pm  in the dark(winter) struggling to read addresses as 9-5ers walked by wondering !!!!!! a postie was doing out at that time ;)
  • awwww! now i feel sorry for the newbie posty... if i ever see a posty looking lost walking round in the late hours of the evening, i must offer him a brew hehe

lol,i remember doing a delivery i had never done before.
not the best of areas, heavy day and scorching hot.
this old lady shouts after me and im thinking what now.
go back and she had a little bottle of lemonade a biscuit.
made me feel great for the rest of the day :D

on the flip side,a colleague was delivering ot really nice bit which ive done a few times before. houses worth 1 million minimum.
he took a tumble and broke his arm with the bone right out his skin.
2 old ladies stepped over him to get in their cars!!

I could do with some technical help (code for are you there custardy?)

I've had both the ordinary delivery and the van with a packet, but I'm still expecting a couple of things from before the action. I absolutely have to go out tomorrow. If I get back to the red card, with no option of re-delivery, how will I find out when/if I can collect from the sorting office? (It's a pain to get to when it's open, never mind finding it shut!).

Aww bless that is so sweet of her, no wonder it made you feel great all day! I cant wait till I'm an old lady so I can do things like that (if i did it now, I'd look like I was trying to pull the postman haha)

Thats terrible about the rich snobs. That makes me so so angry  I hope the same thing happens to them in the future, and no one comes to help them.

on the card it will give how long to give before collection.
on of the reasons they wont be offering redelivery(i assume) is for the time its taking for items ot be sent back to the delivery offices as they go back in the same mail system as normal mail.
most offices remain open during the strikes for collections however if you get a red card i would call the delivery office.
if the items in the office there is no reason(bar strike) itt cant go out on redelivery or to a local post office.
also if you have another address within your delivery offices delivery area it can often be redirected there for you.

it was nasty for him as he had to get back to his car and call the office for help. another worry of guys on delivery after the office is shut is the loss of any back up/support for stuff like this

Our office will process recorded/special to pick up within a few hours or normal packets for the next day (unless you know how to sweet talk them into searching through a few hundred packets for yours).
And they don't answer the phone at all!
