The only day of the week my post is here before midday is a saturday! I find that most odd! Have not seen the postie yet this morning...

We've had our post this morning as normal, and when I bumped into the postie he actually apologised on behlaf of his colleagues!! He has been working in PO collections and Special Delivery distribution, but he said that some depots had gone back on strike today!!

Royal Mail worker David Wall, a postman with the Walton office in Liverpool, said hundreds of postal workers had gone back to the picket lines to protest the changes to flexible working hours.

These included the end of the freedom to leave early once staff have finished their round.

Words fail me. This lazy ba5tard wants to get full pay for doing half a job? I really do hope the management don't give in to them. If this is the sort of person that is employed by the RM, I do not think I feel happy with him handling my mail. If the Royal mail does collapse in the coming months, we know exactly who to blame...

I think we need Thatcher and her handbag back...

  • They are called the Royal Mail... now does this mean they are appointed by 'Her madjesty the Queen'??? If so, can we go back to old fashioned times and just be-head all those who are not delivering our mail? :o

I have had no mail since last Wed.

My delivery this morning was the first since last Wed - I had expected to see some sign of the backlog being cleared.

okay the problem today is its the start of the new later times.
eg my office starts 1 hr 40 minutes later so this obviously carries on through the day.
the mail is cleared as much as they can in the given time scale however there are loads of issues with the later starts and operational issues so there will be problems as well.
as for not getting your mail before 12 except a saturday its down to how the office is run.
eg we work different finish times during the week but theoretically finish 1 hour earlier on a saturday to make the 39 hours a week or whatever.im not up on the specific hours/times tbh.
i know some offices now could be as late as 2pm+ now for normal delivery times

I had my first mail today since last Wednesday as well. It was a bit earlier than normal today..it was here when I got back from work at 12.30 and I would normally not get it until early afternoon.

Apparently we've got a wild cat strike here as well, but the Post Office I use confirmed that strike or not their stuff has been collected and will be collected every evening as usual and that some is being sent out.

I know a small sample isn't statistically significant, but 6 people I know have received only junk mail, at about the usual time.

Where do you reckon the backlog is? I thought I'd see a loaded postie running a bit late today.

I got real mail this morning (Medway)
Sweating a bit as I've returned some tickets for refund and they have to arrive before the day of the show (sent last Wednesday) and still not tracked.

  • No post for me today (Huddersfield). I take it our posties are still striking. I read on the Royal Mail website that more industrial action is planned from Monday to Friday next week. It did say that it would only affect certain parts of the country on certain days - can anyone shed anymore light?
