Nels, I've only just realised that your kitchen update was a link! It looks like it's going well...I laughed at your post yesterday about eating too many dinners! You do realise that once it's finished you might have to return the compliment to your lovely neighbours and friends and cook something yummy for them! :D

mmmmm hadnt thought about that - best start checking out the recipe thread I have a lot of thanks to do:D

Will post a piccy again tomorrow when I hope to have a sink and some doors!!

    Btw welcome weezl74 - think you will love this lot - I do:A :j

    Hi PenPen,

alas freezer is full of all this months meals! How about apple sauce for my christmas hampers? How long does that keep for?

Is there an apple curd, like lemon curd? Apple jam?:D Not worked out how to search the threads for old recipes yet...

I'm getting desperate now! Already got 12 jars chutney from the green tomato episode, so that's no good either;)

Tentative hugs all round. This is a very cool forum. I could procrastinate here all day!
    Keep it up everyone!
    Weezl

Apple butter or cheese is what you want, then ;) There's a good recipe here from Woman's Hour. It's like a jam, as you'll need a much higher sugar content that you get in apple sauce.

Edit - the page is a bit odd as it says it's a recipe for cake  Also, don't worry about turning it out, as the recipe says at the bottom - I make it into jars, then spoon out like jam.

Been down the garden for cooking inspiration. Picked the last of the aubergines, 3 cucumbers, 6 tomatoes, 2 marrows and 4 courgettes. Found half a cauliflower in the fridge, so we're having a veggie korma for tea

Afternoon all - late today as pc is beggaring about - have spoken to it sweetly and all seems well now. big hugs to all who need them esp. annie and nicola - take it easy hon - you know it will be worth it :)

Have stripped all the beds in the excitement of having a new washing machine delivered tomorow and have cleaned out behind the old one - eeeeeeew. Am now sititng anxiously waiting for little dd to come in - first day of walking home by herself - no roads and only 500yards from school but still. As I don't work mondays I have given up the after school and breakfast club for mon which saves me £7.50pw - woo-hoo! but mostly it's because she goes to secondary school next year and gets nervous if I go outside to take the rubbish out so a little gentle independence training is in order.
tea tonight will be fridge debris soup and dumplings if I can find the thread on dumplings without suet - dd is veggie and I have no veggie suet in the house.
Finsihed another pair of socks last night so only 22 more to go - pairs that is not socks :( so some serious knitting is in order

have a great rest of the afternoon

    Good afternoon

Well today ive done the ironing but we are having a curry for tea dw is broken its been over a month waiting for parts. i hate washing up,

I have dug out my bread maker to try again, as bread is one of the things im not good at not bad at baking in general (well most of the time)
I have been inspired by the forum posts and made the dough in the machine and baked in oven it tastes great but not as white as bread in shops? Why but will try with plain flour as some have said you can well its worth a try.

Thanks Danna, it seems strange writing away & wondering if anyone is reading.
I'm doing smoked haddok & mash for tea, & am going to blitz my bedroom after tea, can't stand the mess any longer.
Hope everyone has a good evening.
