Daily Thread Monday 8th October 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 08/10/2007.This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Csarina, ellie and all to follow,

I’m another one who has tried sleep and given up…once my sleep pattern is messed about it takes me a while to get back to normal. I don’t know how I’ll cope with the school run tomorrow. :(

anniestar, I’m so sorry to hear about your nephew. It must be very hard for his son, and for you and the rest of his family too. I’m glad you sent him a letter. (((hugs)))
Nelski, you’ve unsettled me…I think I want to sweet talk Mr Pink into a new kitchen!
Ticklemouse and Math, it's so good to see you both posting again!
twink, when you’re next talking to her, send our love to kyle….I hope they all have a fabulous time.
Aussie, what can I say! :silenced: I really wouldn’t like to gloat and I’m trying very hard to think of something supportive to write….but the best I can come up with is that I hope your boys had a good flight home. :silenced: :o:D :rotfl:
Churchmouse, will you get in here and help me out...please! Did you know that she called you a [strike]rat[/strike] very bad word, yesterday? You've been as quiet as a church mouse lately...I hope it's just that you've been busy and everything's ok. xx
Haribo, glad to see you back again, and even more glad that you behaved yourself and that dbil was too distracted by other things to notice the hairy legs. ;):D

I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday as I was sort of busy in an Old Style way. It was a pottering day really….

First I got up early (well 10 o’clock is earlyish on a Sunday!), and I was sitting in my jammys watching some cookery programme on tv when it dawned on me that it was Sunday and I was missing the car boot sale. Mad dash in and out of the bathroom and I was at the boot sale in 15 minutes flat. The one thing I really hoped to find were some tall glass jars for making flavoured vodka and sloe gin and for storing dried stuff in. Well it was my lucky day! :j :j I got three tall air tight jars, five middle sized air tight jars and two small ones that aren’t airtight but are very pretty! I also bought two bunches of broccoli and two cauliflowers and the total spend was £4.50, so I was seriously chuffed! I spent ages washing, sterilising and drying the jars and now have blackberry vodka and sloe gin in a couple of them and the rest are filled with lentils, soup mix, couscous, seeds etc. I just need a shelf to put them on now, so that’s Mr Pink’s job this week.

I popped to the shops yesterday afternoon too, just as the lovely girl was reducing the fish to silly money, so we had fish pie for tea last night and there was plenty of fish left over to freeze for another pie. I also managed to get three packets of smoked salmon reduced to 30p each….so smoked salmon, dill, cream and pasta for tea tonight.

Unfortunately, as I have tea sorted out, the shopping’s done for this week, the garden is looking tidy(ish), the grass is cut, the baking is up to date, and all my friends will be at work, I really think I have no option but to do some cleaning today. I really wish I could find an excuse not to, but unfortunately I’ve exhausted them all, so I'll just have to get on with it. :(

I hope you all have a good day.

    Take care,

    Pink

    Good morning everyone,

Just having my lunch atm. OS has taken DGS to the movies this morning giving me a chance to get the house back to less chaotic mess that it was. Washing up to date, house cleaning done, cake & bread to go in to the oven once it's risen more. I had an awful nights sleep last night due to DH & OS snoring for Australia. It was after 1am when I finally dropped off and the alarm went off at 4.45am. I will be like a dead duck tonight. It's pretty hot today as well.

Twink Lovely to hear that Kyle & family have arrived safely. They'll have the best time. Go easy on the housework. :A Maybe it wasn't the hot weather steaming her glasses up after all. :D She'd say that to you of course.

Annie (((hugs))) to your nephew & to you.

Pink :p Your kind message means such a lot to me. Good flight home indeed. The only thing that has soothed the hurt is knowing the Kiwi's lost as well. :D Well done on your car boot finds. :T

Well hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning everyone.
Not got long to post as i had a really lazy evening last night and my kitchen looks like a bomb has hit, and i havent ironed any uniforms!!!! I will not be getting so disorganised again i promise!!

Footy yesterday was good (thanks catowen for asking) ds3 won 1-0 and he scored the winning goal, ds1 lost 4-1 but also scored and ended up coming off with injured ankle, but the boys enjoyed it and thats the main thing.
Other issues regarding footy bothering me but i wont go into loads of detail basical alot of backstabbing, ans as dh runs the team im getting the worst of it!! Just have to grit my teeth and remember we are doing this voluntary for the kids!!!! Just wish some of the parents would think this way!

Today if i get the kids to school on time! Im running book fair then going food shopping, need to pay some bills, help my sister sort her paypal account out as she is having problems, a whole house tidy up, then tonight help ds1 put his homework projects together ready to hand in.

Right best go and make a start and get a pot of coffee on
    Catch you all later

    Morning All

No problem sleeping here, just a problem getting up - found it very hard this morning.

Todays plan of action today - office work, loads of it. Hope to be discliplined & get lots done. Want to find time to take the dog for a long walk and do some ironing also. This morning must firstly work out whats for dinner tonight and then menu plan the rest of the week - didnt do it last week.

Weather dull at the moment but is meant to stay dry so wm on and another load waiting.

DLB - know what you mean about the football Ds's old team was like that and still is - we played them recently and all the parents stand in groups talking about everyone else and they actually are quite nasty about some of the opponents team - bearing in mind this is the under 9's! Team he plays for now is lovely, its our village team and all the parents get on well and noone moans about who is sub etc.

Quick surf on mse then will get on.

    Have a lovely day.

I had a strange night's sleep too. Felt as though as I was "almost" awake all night so not feeling too rested today. Today is the day DS finds out about his work placement. Think I was stressing about that last night so hopefully a better night's sleep awaits me tonight.

((((hugs)))) to those who need/want one. I could have done with one last night after Scotland lost in the RWC. :(

W**k today but won't be overly busy due to the postal strike. Lunch will be some HM soup then some fruit.

Dinner is chicken stir fry for DS and me and sausage and mash for DD.

    Have a marvellous Monday.
