    Hi all,

First time on this kind of thread, so here goes! Been meal planning like mad, and have made and frozen every evening meal til the end of the month

Does anyone think stewed apple with cinnamon and sutanas would keep in jars? Strikes me it's like chutney but without the vinegar!

    Weezl

Hi Weezl :hello: , welcome you will love it here, :j not sure about the apple in jars, someone wiser will be along to help you I am sure. But I must say I am impressed that you have made and frozen every meal untill the end of the month

Chalky...No offence hon, but please don't encourage Pink to gaze at her navel more than she does already. :D;)

Well people, I'm going to disappear for a wee while.:o ........ TBH the deciding factor is that I have a big project that I have seriously neglected recently and it hit me with a bit of a bang last night.

Haribo, I know that your legs are in serious need of attention......but surely it won't take you that long to shave them! :p I hope d twin 1 is feeling a bit better now. :kisses3: The kiss is for her, not you! Navel gazing indeed!
Nels, I've only just realised that your kitchen update was a link! It looks like it's going well...I laughed at your post yesterday about eating too many dinners! You do realise that once it's finished you might have to return the compliment to your lovely neighbours and friends and cook something yummy for them! :D
Pen Pen, go with the knitting and hang everything else!
Nicola, I'm so glad you're out of hospital. Look after yourself.
Weezl, Welcome :hello: Like redruby, I don't know how long it will survive in jars, but I know that apple and cinnamon freezes really well.
catowen, I do hope you get the new little one. I often read your posts about what you are doing with the children and think that if I'd had to work when mine were small you are just the sort of person I would have felt able to entrust them to.

Well, after my broken night's sleep I feel surprisingly fresh today! The bread is made, the washing machine has been on and as it's a lovely sunny day with a bit of a breeze, the bedding is hanging outside. I've cleaned out the fish tank and I've squirted some stardrops around the bathroom (which means that I'll have to go and clean it off again) and I've got the vacum cleaner out of the cupboard, so I may as well use it before I put it away again. At the moment I'm full of good intentions...let's hope it stays that way! I really envy those of you who actually enjoy housework!

It's going to be a long day....

:hello: Insomnia must be catching. We had an early nigth at 10pm, but I lay awake until gone midnight and then slept fitfully. Even tried waking OH up to join me, but no chance once he's gone! Then awake at 6.00 as OH's phone downstairs was beeping :o. Kept my head down at work so far and the mornings gone quick.

OH and I both forgot our packed lunch today so I'll have to nip home for mine!

    Morning all!

<Hugs> to you if you need one, or if you would like one. Have another one, go on.

Had a bad back for a few days, caused by too much shovelling soil into the raised beds. Got my DH to drop me in town, then I walked the 2.5 miles to the pub to meet him. I thought this would loosen me up a bit; I was wrong. About 1.5 miles in I realised I had one anti inflammatory tablet in my handbag, so I took it and by the time I readched the pub I was feeling better.

Gorgeous shoulder of mutton for dinner yesterday. I was wondering what to make with the leftovers when I read RedRuby's post. So I think we'll have giant yorkies with mutton, veg and mutton gravy for dinner. Don't think DH will mind somehow.

    Great kitchen Nelski.
    Hello and Welcome Weezl!
Tru have you tried defragmenting your disk? Have PMd you with info.
    Hester still loving that blog.
PenPen How did your ciabatta turn out? I always make two loaves, and we're eaqting the second as toast. It's lovely as the butter (or jam) falls into the holes. mmmmm.

Final Christmas cake is in the oven. It's another Delia Creole Cake, akthough I adapt the recipe slightly. INstead of leaving the fruit and alcohol in the fridge for one week, I leave it for three, adding the same amount of alcohol again after two weeks.

Got a few errands to run this afternoon, once cake is out of the oven. I need to get some eggs (fir the giant yorkshire) and as I get them from a local nursery (laid this morning) I might get some more winter bedding for the front drive.

Not much else to report, will catch up with you all later. Have a good day xxx

Well I am officially rubbish at posting on here I can just never find the time but I do keep reading what I can to keep me on track. over the last week (my first old style week) I haven’t bought one takeaway which is amazing for us and for my waistline so that’s going ok and we only spent £45 at Mr T instead of the normal 100. The money we saved at Mr T’s has just had to be spent though as one of our radiators burst yesterday so that wasn’t so good but at least I’m getting in the swing of MSE again which feels good. My 5yo dd also produced the best bread we have had out of our bm by shoving the egg I had to glaze the top in with everything else but it came out so fluffy so will be doing that again.

As for what’s ahead this week well ds1 is off to hospital tonight as his o2 levels keep dropping so needs monitoring (I’ve packed my food won’t pay their prices) I’m going to get my online bingo cancelled :o (I know, I know) and try to sell my old car so we have some penny’s to get the new kitchen fitted as it’s been sat in the garage for a couple of months now doing nothing the new kitchen and the car that is. Will keep reading on here to keep me going as it seems such a grind to do things until they become routine.

((Hugs)) and ~~~~good luck, support~~~~ vibes to all that need them

    Iffy

Extra hug for Annie, My uncle has just made the same choice with his treatment over the weekend and we are feeling the same, at a loss as to what we can do.

Thank you so much, it was delish  I made rolls, which we had with soup, then the rest went into the freezer for DD's pack ups.

Hi, weezl :j I don't think it will work. The vinegar is key to preserving in chutney. If you leave it out, you run a huge risk of it spoiling (bottling is a completely different procedure, and riddled with problems). Why not freeze the apple sauce? Alternatively, stored in a cool place, cooking apples keep for months (we just finished last year's as this year's crop started).

I've taken your advice and continued my knitting :A Still have no idea what's for tea

Annie, now that I've read yesterday's thread, sending big hugs to you and your family.

    Hi PenPen,

alas freezer is full of all this months meals! How about apple sauce for my christmas hampers? How long does that keep for?

Is there an apple curd, like lemon curd? Apple jam?:D Not worked out how to search the threads for old recipes yet...

I'm getting desperate now! Already got 12 jars chutney from the green tomato episode, so that's no good either;)

Tentative hugs all round. This is a very cool forum. I could procrastinate here all day!
    Keep it up everyone!
