Please - pity the woman who had to virtually rugby-tackle a Staffie at 11:00 at night (last-wee-before-bed-time) to stop said Staffie from picking up large orange slug in her mouth......:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I don't know if she'd actually have eaten it, but I really really didn't want to find out. _pale__pale__pale__pale__pale_
Leopard Slugs are your friend. Not only do they have a rather astonishing pattern on the bodywork, they eat all the other slugs.
Today might be looking up. An ex colleague has just spent more money than I will in two years on clothes because her school has promoted her to SLT and they made some barbed comments about how she 'sometimes looks lovely'. So she has a huge bag of perfectly adequate clothes that needed to make way for the new offerings that should fit me almost perfectly, other than in height, as she's about six inches taller than me. She's going to drop them off tonight.
And Himself has decided that, because I can't reach things as high up as he can - despite being the same height (how does that work?) he is going to take over the emptying of the far wall cupboard of all the out of date biscuits and things that get stuffed in there because I can reach properly. This then leaves me one bowl of washing up to do and I don't have to look at his biscuits and sweet things when I'm irritable and could easily stuff the lot down in one sulky, unenjoyable pig out.
He's also getting the ironing board out. Not going to use it, it's for my benefit, as my super duper commercial steam generator scares him just looking at it, but it was trapped in the spare room whilst the Manky Lodger festered in there, so I'm thinking of ironed bedlinen for the first time in two years.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

*Perks up at mention of new dog*
What have you got, Poohbear? Male or female? How old? What colour?
She is a yellow Labrador, 18 months old.
She has settled really well. A little nervous around doors but otherwise quite settled. She is almost white which DS1 says is possibly not the best colour for living here with muddy fields all around.
A family needed to rehome her quickly so I jumped at the chance of a young lab.

Well, there are lots of very expensive (for me) trousers, a couple of very nice dresses including a LBD, the softest, warmest cardie in the world that I will fight the Idiot Cat to the death for, various tops, etc - and a couple of things from her sister. I can't quite imagine myself wearing a skater dress style top with bright blue, orange, red and yellow patterned velvet frills and twiddly bits and a jumper that isn't just leopard print, not just zebra print, not just white tiger print and what looks like white giraffe, it also (because it needed that extra something to make it exciting ) has silver lame threads through the entire knit. :rotfl:
I am very grateful, and the two interesting pieces in the collection just made it better
A nearly white Labrador would at least be very visible for the first five minutes of escape into the muddy fields...
Oooh, I've just remembered that the engineer will be coming to look at the DW this coming week. That'll need a lot of scrubbing out.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I'm back, I will catch up on your news tomorrow.
Half of 50 billion loads of washing left to do.
I have unpacked and attempted to return the house to normal. It was the first time we left ds1 behind 0 -
Well done Iona, have a lovely relaxing weekend.
It's a beautiful early autumn day here. I dropped DD at the stables earlier, and it was a lovely drive back with no traffic to speak of. It was the first time that she had seen 9am for a few weeks - boy, does she have a shock coming to her next week! She has been warned...0 -

Just what I was thinking; also you can see at a glance if she's rolled in something "interesting", you don't have to wait til she spreads it all across the kitchen as you might with - say - a dark brown dog. :rotfl:
Bedlinen has been changed, mattress flipped (we do this every 8 weeks), and dirty bedlinen washed and put out on the whirligig. Also did a duster wash, as there was getting to be a lot in the "dirties" bag.
I had "assistance" from Cookie - well, she supervised me hanging the stuff out. Normally Mr LW puts bedlinen out to dry, but he was still wrangling the clean duvet cover into place, so I decided I'd give it a go. Hard work for me, but weirdly satisfying. (I need to get out more - who on earth gets "satisfaction" from getting a duvet cover onto the line??):D
ETA: welcome back Dancemum - I hope the house wasn't too upside-down when you got home!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Whoops - more of a flutter for a couple of days and then a flop, rather than flying! Back next week! - hoping to achieve some sort of routine once the smalls are back at school

Jojo one of my neighbours used to give me bags of clothes for my kids. Rummaging through them was such fun - like Christmas - and we were always very grateful, especially when we found something expensive that had hardly been worn.
Some paid stuff done, 1 car load taken to the tip. A load of washing on the line and I will do a bit of hoovering in a minute. Need to finish my budget for September and work out how much of an allowance we are going to give DS2. I think he will need £10 a day for bus fares and lunch as a minimum.0
