Yes but it's down to 246,000 for the year to march 2017.

That's still requires a town the size of Swindon being built every year.

Possible but I'm not sure what that's got to do with the point I was making.

If any of you are not watching Newsnight, I suggest you watch it back on I-Player.

As said many times, certain parts of Europe are terrified of disrupted trade....

No mention of wishing to abandon any Uk trade for an abstract ideal of cohesiveness from real businesspeople and local politicians. Some standard robotic Eurocrat thinks otherwise.

Or a city the size of Newcastle - that's a power plant, resevoir, sewage, etc - not just houses

Did it ever go away? Irish Nationalism has existed for nearly a hundred years now. Very much alive and well.

...or a lot more sheds sold by the likes of B&Q.

If someone is desperate for a roof over their head they will accept pretty much anything which is offered.

A converted shed or garage doesn't look half bad in July. In the depths of mid January it's a different proposition entirely.

If a country relies on year on year mass inward migration, in the order of hundreds of thousands, then I contend it is a *broken* economy.

You can not guarantee that these people will come, and are therefore reliant on factors outside your control.
  • It could be simply because sterling is now so low, it no longer pays enough. Remember doctors/ nurses etc have not had a proper pay rise for 5 yrs.
