200sqft is a full size removal lorry, so the op needs 3, that's 3 drivers, 3 lorrys, 400 miles each.
I agree more quotes are needed, but lets be realistic, OP has a LOT of stuff, and will pay accordingly.
OK - hadn't calculated the volume. That is a lot. So yes, more like £1500 per lorry I would say. £15000 way too much.0 -
PS just taken in just how big that 'collection' must be. That's obviously it - and he's prob not done himself any favours by boxing it up himself. They'll be less inclined to take responsibility! Is it something easily broken?2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

In other words, they are not willing to accept the risks without a sizeable payment. TBH can't really blame them if you are asking them to move 600 sq m of collectible items sight unseen.
I totally agree with this....
OP I can see your thinking that by doing the packing yourselves it will save costs but I think that perhaps in this case it might be just as "cost effective" to get a quote for the full removal service if that is the way you want to go rather than hiring a van and doing it over several days and multiple journeys.
more quotes needed.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

We have been getting quotes for moving. We are in a 3 bed moving less than 100 miles. The cheapest so far has been £1300, most expensive was £2,200. The £2200 one is them collecting everything apart from essentials the day before, then last bits and delivering to new address, this company only offer this service if not deemed a local move.
All quotes where a lot more than I expected them to be. A friend moved a lot further 3 years ago and her move was much cheaper.0 -

I'd agree with this. Insurance wise this is unlikely to be covered by their standard residential offering, bespoke coverage will cost considerably more.
OP do the items ever come out of the boxes? Would it be something a local museum would be interested in (on a loan basis)?0 -
Of course man/van will do return journey!
They'll arrange a load going back the other way and factor in an overnight stay into the costs of both jobs.
Try https://www.anyvan.com/
and I guarantee you'll get 8+ offers at varying costs. Don't just choose the cheapest though - look at their reviews, insurance, number of jobs etc0 -

Err 3 of 200 square feet?
Is that cubic feet in which case its only part of van.
If square feet I would leave the house behind and just move the contents.0 -
Why not leave the 'collection' in storage where it is until you have got moved and settled in then take it up to Yorkshire a van full at a time at your leisure?0

Thank you for all those ideas.
You are making me think.
The new house has a drive up a hill in Yorkshire so apparently only a 7.5 ton would get up it! I have to go to and from London till Christmas as I haven't given notice at work. So I could bring a load up each time!0
