Can we also see an end to threads being trivialised by paranoid rants about how the police/government/council/DVLA/whoever are out to get us?0 -

If there is any tint other than standard glass they will very likely be illegal. Factory glass is generally close to the legal limit.0

Yep, already on that. They look darker on the photo but I'm not sure they're legal.
I'm pretty sure they are not, a friend of the wife's had the darker than standard tints, had an accident and the insurance and police were very interested. Insurance refused to pay out.If there is any tint other than standard glass they will very likely be illegal. Factory glass is generally close to the legal limit.
A fair guide to go by, believe B post and back you can do what you like but the drivers and passengers side windows cannot be tinted much (poss 5%, which isn't noticeable) or not at all.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
I agree Paradigm. It is mad and mental to drive around in a car when you can't see where you are going. Just hope your son doesn't kill anyone.0

Are they factory or aftermarket tints. He'll probably need to declare them to his insurer and he might find his policy void if they're actually illegal.Yep, already on that. They look darker on the photo but I'm not sure they're legal.

And IIRC this only came about because they wanted to ban window tinted altogether, but there was room to argue that a van or a CDV could have no rear quarter window or rear window visibility at all.
The history of the motor car is full of things they tried to ban, which later came to be standard.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Nope, not even close. Here are the correct figures.Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later
The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.
Vehicles first used before 1 April 1985
The front windscreen and front side windows must both let at least 70% of light through

High level brake lights is a classic example of that, when they first came out as an accessory they were banned, now they are standard.0
