Hi Y'all, toady is officially the first day of Autumn at chez MATH, ie I've made my first Sunday lunch of the season (I don't bother with roasts when we are at the coast) MIL & FIL were invited for Roast Brisket with Oxtail Gravy with all the trimmings. They have just left, the kitchen is sorted, Mrs MATH is watching last nights Strictly Come Prancing and I'm off to snuggle down with the cats and a good book for and hour or so before church.

N9eav - we have done hunger lunches before and they really make you appreciate what you have, don't they? At Christmas we wrap a pressy for an extra child and take it to church on Toy Sunday, they get sent to a refuge for the kids from violent homes, such a small thing to do but hopefully it makes a difference to their lives.

TWINK - you can't move for Wisper bars in the shops here in the emids. I don't like them myself LOL

Nelski - Couldn't agree more! If is ain't minted gravy it ain't gravy IMO. LOL My butcher makes Lamb and Apple Sausages and the ol minty stuff is just fabarooni poured over them...slurp!

PP - You forget what a non-OS house is like after a while don't ya? I called round to my FIL the other day, heating cranked up to tropical and there he sat in a t shirt! I really had to bite my tongue from saying something about the waste. His carbon footprint must be the size of Wales. LOL My own parents have a freezer full of Aunt Bessies this and that and leave the apples to rot on the ground cos it's too much trouble to stew them...arrgghhh

TM - I will get onto MSN one of these nights. I'm putting a request in for a 48 hour day, these pesky 24 hour ones are too cramped to fit everything in. LOL

    Enjoy your Sunday

    Hello Folks :hello:

Back from the big smoke and back to cleaning. MIL and FIL left the place in a real state so I've been cleaning all day.

The course we were on was great. Made lots of useful business contacts and learned alot. Food was fab and hotel very posh but not much time to enjoy it. And contary to Pink's suspicions I do not think you'll be reading about my antics in the Daily Record. Unless OH is planning a kiss and tell. ;):o

Dtwin2 is much better but Dtwin1 has caught what she had as always. I was up 3 times during the night with her. She had 3 almighty nose bleeds. At one stage I thought she'd need a transfusion.

She's curled up beside me now and OH is out with her sister trying to escape the bleach fumes.:D Need to make a start on the roast beef for tea. Haven't picked the carrots and swedes from the garden yet to go with it.

Girls are off school for 2 weeks now and I'm planning on giving them a few cooking lessons and trying some more HFW recipes.

Twink.. I'm glad Kyle is enjoying Florida. I hope you're ok. x

Nelski.... I think you're going to miss those builders when they're gone. :p You'll be looking for an extension next. ;)

PP..... Have you reported that pm yet?? I know it must be upsetting but we all have a responsibility to rid MSE of that type of person before they hurt someone who is not as strong as you. I'd have named and shamed meself. ;)

Better be off and peel the spuds.

    Haribo x

Hi all. Well, my early start this morning was great while it lasted but, by the time we had eaten dinner (roast lamb & trimmings - but mint sauce made separately - I don't like it, but DH does) I was ready to conk out on the sofa. DH told me not to do too much just because I was feeling better but, you know what us girls are like! Anyway, will chill out for the rest of the day. Looking forward to Strictly Come Prancing (I liked that, Math!) and, also, Louis Theroux later at 9pm, all about cosmetic surgery in the US - should be very interesting.

DH reckons he has now thrown out the same spider three times; he said he recognised it! He also said that, when he threw it out of the window, he heard it say 'oh, no, not again!'

I hope that's the last of them, now. The last couple of years have been relatively spider-free here, but this year we must have had about 9, all from the same family, by the looks of them!

PENPIN - I hope you're enjoying yourself at your sister's and that you manage to educate her into the OS way; it's horrible to see people overspending when there's no need, isn't it? DH and I stood behind someone in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago who spent £160+ on total junk food. There was nothing fresh in her trolley, just tins and packets. Besides living on rubbish, I can just imagine how much rubbish she throws out and only hope she recycles the tins!

Well, DH is out mowing the lawn and I might do some knitting; I have neglected it this week because I haven't been well and I am determined to knit lots of pressies this year. I've been looking at free patterns on the internet and there is a lot of inspiration there.

Well, will try and pop in later.

(((hugs))) to everyone. JACKIEO - where are you? And QUEENIE?

have just made a carott cake. Have made one before using the same recipe as today, but last time i halved the ingredients. This time i didnt realise till halfway through i hadnt halfed the ingredients. Now i have MORE than double the mixture  dont know how????

Oh well have had to put it into 2 tins and will have to repeat when there done with 2 more. just hope it tastes ok.

just fed the animals, Ilo is now having a mad half hour running round with a teddy bear magnet he stole from the fridge when he was a pup. Nutter! its more amusing cos he has no grip on our tiled floor so its like a cartoon, his legs going ten to the dozen and he's going nowhere! :D

MIOLIERE~ my cat eats spiders. so we dont have the problem of the same ones in our house.what time is come prancing on ?!

STEFEJB~ the joys of kids eh? count to a thousand!

Was also horrified to read Pen-Pin!!! is being harrased again. I have only had one nasty PM ages ago and it really upset and scared me(it was directed at my having cats) I strongly urge you to report whoever is responsable as htat is my biggest regret. You are a truly inspiring person and I honestly feel privileged that you share your life with us. Please have a fab time and give your sister a huge hug as well.
Pink HUGS to you and DS.

Feel rather low today. News of nephew is worse that initially told(although having 5 inopeable stomach tumors is pretty bad)he now has tumours in his lungs and has decided not to have any chemo. I was advised to write him a letter(by a very wise regular poster on here ;thank you) which I have done. I feel so sorry for his 16 year old son in particular. It is truly a tragic sequience of events that I cannot post on here. Anyway very little to be done. Sorry this is so flat but needed to share wiht my friends. Will go now(have already eaten) so off to feed cats, watch the Rugby League play offs then HOYS(Prince Philip cup-Pony club games tonight :j I am pathetic I ALWAYS cry at the Pony Club games) Hvae a nice evening and take care. As ever to those missed out No offence intended. A XXXXXX

Hello to everybody - special ((((((((hugs)))))))) to all who need them. If you don't, then pass on somebody who does  !

Afraid I've had a very lazy day today - maybe the dull miserable weather but all I've done is use up some eating apples for apple sauce (now in freezer for Christmas), watch some TV while knitting half a matinee coat and get the evening meal started.

Steak and Onion Lattice (ASDA - not very OS but it was on 'whoopsie'!), mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli - sounds good enough to me as I'm trying to empty the freezer.

Had to put the C/H on for a few minutes - I fell asleep earlier and woke up absolutely freezing. I'll give it half an hour and then turn it off and see how the temp feels then. The place might warm up a bit with cooking the meal anyway - esp with the oven on.

    Be back later, Ollie
