The kitchen audit is in full swing here in the People's Republic of North Wales and we really have stockpiled a month' worth of storecupboard meals
We had a NSD today thankfully but spent £3.51 in a German hard discounter yesterday for some frozen veg and their version of San Pellegrino for DH.
£184.18 left for us now - including tomorrow's prosecco buying "We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.

My muscle food order came today (from last months budget) and it all looks OK, having input what I bought into Mr T's there doesn't actually seem to be any saving (in fact Mr T was cheaper overall), so not sure if I'd bother again, unless the quality is much better.
I've spent some time meal planning and have 21 meals/recipes planned (a lot will have leftovers which will do for lunches) and I've made a shopping list for the extra things I need for the recipes I have planned which comes to just over £40 (will be bought when needed). I plan on having a batch cooking day on Sunday to start stocking my freezer with "ready meals" and to use up the fresh food I have. This month, in terms of this challenge, is 35 days, so as it stands I will need another 14 days worth of meals to buy, but we'll see how the batch cooking goes and how many portions I get out of it.

Hi everyone,
I lost track in August. Hardly did any real shopping, but spent loads at sainsbobs getting the reduced jars etc, which will save money later on. Did a weekly shop (still in August) yesterday, which came to about £25, but I've got into the habit of popping into a shop nearly every day. The holidays are terrible for that!! In term time, I'm really disciplined and only go once a week, but this month...
Anyway, I'm in for £100 for September, and here's hoping that I actually keep track! Of course, it's far easier to do that when I'm only shopping once a week lol.
See you all on the 1st.

NSD for us today, i was tempted to have a quick look in the SM for yellow sticker items but resisted. I was mooching around for ideas to use up some pears that were going a bit brown round the edges.I tried the pear chocolate cake from this thread. I thought it was lovely, however OH, DS 1 and 2 however ate the cake picking out all the pear pieces leaving them on the plate!
On the plus side I found a random £5 voucher while decluttering that can be used in the land of Ice, not somewhere I usually shop (apart from for frozen Christmas platters). Any suggestions what is economical to buy from there?Grocery Challenge Sept 2021 £95.40/£500

Another £10.97 today taking us up to £65.17 already. I've come to the conclusion that we have a bit of a shopping addiction. Need to have a few NSD's to even things out a bit, that and to reduce OH's fruit and yogurt addiction.Grocery Challenge Sept 2021 £95.40/£500

First spend of the month - £2.19 on some fruit from the market (6 bananas, 10 peaches and 8 nectarines).
Have had a productive day in the kitchen as well, made 3 lasagnes for the freezer with a portion of bolognese left over, 2 portions (each feeds 2) of beef stew and there's a chicken and mushroom curry still cooking in the slow cooker so that's evening meals for the two of us for a week made so far. Might do a bit more batch cooking tomorrow as well if I have time.
njk - it depends on what you like really, but if it was me I'd spend it on 500g of fresh chicken breast (£2) and 400g of lean steak mince (£3) as I'd be able to make quite a few meals out of it for the two of us.New House... New Mortgage! February 2017: £144,000

I've an early spend but it won't be invoiced til next month; £14.50 on a trial pack of veggie sausages etc made for tasty mushrooms - looks like enough for about 15 main meals, and has free postage. So best clear the freezer out before it arrives on Friday!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000
