I'll be back with my September budget. Need to try and meal plan first. I've got plenty in at home but no real idea of what to cook. As per usual, I buy the same food items week in, week out....

In the meantime, can anyone recommend an app or website link for a food price calculator. I'm hopeless when it comes to standing in the supermarket trying to work out which is best value.

I've been working out this morning whether its best to buy 3 x 620ml bottles of beer for £5.25, 12 x 330ml bottles of beer for £12.00 or 6 x 330ml bottles of beer for £6.10. Depending on my calculations, I got different results !!

I use mysupermarket (app and website) an awful lot to tell me what's the cheapest shop I can do.

    Hi hi all,

Can I come in for £200 this month?
It's only me and hollow legged DH but does include all household bits too. September runs 22nd August to 21st September for us due to DH's pay dates - hoping to save a little bit on that £200 by trying to run the store cupboard and freezer down a bit then we can have a treat for our wedding anniversary next month.
Having said that, it's been a long time since I've done a grocery challenge and we've got a bit lazy recently :rotfl:

I would like to join this challenge. My DH has been made redundant so only have the one income coming in at the moment so need to really make some huge changes to our budget and over the past year food shopping has become ridiculous :o so I know it's an area we need to seriously work on. We are a family of 3 adults and 2 teens, 4 cats and 2 chickens. So I am going to over estimate as September is a month of birthdays and first time at this challenge.

So put me down for a target of £500 starting 28th August to end of September

Off to meal plan and check supplies :)

  • I'm giving us a budget of £150 for September. Foods and non alcoholic drinks gor us.
September runs 1st-30th. We have already spent £27.81 in bulk shopping for the month though.

    £27.81/£150
    £122.19 left

  • Could I join please? Food spends have been ridiculous recently so need to get them under control! Have just done an order with muscle food for the first time, so that should pretty much be enough meat for all of September so I'd like to aim for a budget of £220 for September please. This is £80 less than I normally budget due to the large meat order and I plan on tracking all spends to see how much we really do spend. This is to include all food, toiletries and takeaways.

    Thanks!

  • I will not start September till the 1st but I'm aiming for £100 again. The last couple of weeks have been spent using up stuff from the store cupboard so once I hit September I'm going to be restocking.
I'll have a big freezer again :j so can get back into the habit of big bulk meal cooking.
