Have you tried Sains "I Can't Believe It's So Good?" Much cheaper (£1.10 / 500g) and just as good as butter for baking, frying and in mashed potato. I switched to using this earlier in the year when the price of butter soared and now save the butter just for spreading. Oh, and on new/jacket potatoes.Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
Asked Mr E to pop into the shop for a snack yesterday, meaning a chocolate bar or a bag of crisps, and he came back with a whole snacking platter. Which, while sweet, has added $20 to the total and it was already super tight.
In better news, fish pie was well received by the entire family with enough left for Mr E and my lunch today, meaning that my Sunday splurge on fish ended up feeding all four of us for dinner for three nights.MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028
14 August 2017 - Refinanced: $220,000
January 2019 $211,580 Current MFD 31 June 20360 -
what a horrid week
lots of bad news and stress in my family, which has been topped by my dad having a fall while on a break away and spending most of today in a&e with him getting him checked over. luckily apart from broken fingers and thumb, cracked ribs and lots of grazes he should be fine with the pain-killers and antibiotics the hospital gave him.
I couldn't face the supermarket today, as I would normally go, so just picked up bread, fruit and milk in the local coop, which came to £3.15.
cos i'm now here looking after dad for a few days i'm going to do an online morries shop, I think the delivery fee will be less than cabs each way and i'll be here to keep my beady eye on him.0 -
Biggest weekly shop of this month so far of £74.00 at Ald! Signature updated.
I'm off ill from work at the moment so not really eating a lot but i'm sure the 3 males in the house will make up for it. We have 4 days left of this month so definitely will come under budget, although I will need to do the reduced bread run at some point this weekend.
I'll be readjusting all our budgets for next month so will probably will reduce the grocery budget slightly but don't want to drop it too quickly and not be able to manage.Grocery Challenge Sept 2021 £95.40/£500

Since last posting we have spent £40.44 on a few shops.
OH has a joint in his slow cooker with some veg. He'll be having that with mash later as I will be cooking just over a kilo of potatoes in my multi cooker.
I'm having vegan pesto rice salad for dinner today.
Tomorrow should be a NSD.
Tomorrow OH will be at his parents for dinner. I'll be having great food broad bean bites, potatoes, beans and veg tomorrow due to him being out, but this will also be my dinner Sunday as well due to less energy after work on Sunday and it being an easy meal.
Sunday OH will have more of the slow cook roast with mash or something similar.
£125.26/£150.
£24.74 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0
