i found my receipt from a few days ago and while I thought i'd spent £10 it was only £7.20 so a small bonus.
it was needed cos I bought more than I planned yesterday and spent £27.48. tho did buy a few frozen bits that I wasn't planning to and don't really need. still, they won't go off.
2 more shopping weeks to go til the end of the month and by my adding up I've spent £75 so i'm within my £160 budget. fingers crossed0 -
I'm not doing too well this month. I'd already gone over budget and had allocated myself £10 a week for the rest of the month to get fresh bits I need. So today I went to get a few bits of fruit, veg and a bottle of oil. But then Aldi had onions and mushrooms in the super 6 and I realised if I bought a load of ground almonds I've already got the other ingredients I need to make mushroom Wellington from the cranks Bible cookbook. It's really delicious and I tend to make a big load and freeze it as it's time consuming to make. It will work out cheaper having done this but it's taken me over (I've also probably bought too much ground almonds as I couldn't remember how much I needed!). So I spent £15.55.
I'll try again next week!0 -

Does anyone have favorite recipes using sausage meat? I have 4 500g packs of gluten free sausage meat i got for 50p each. I'm thinking maybe a meatloaf or stuffing/meatloaf style dish or meaty falafal mixture patties, but I'm at a bit of a loss after this?Grocery Challenge Sept 2021 £95.40/£500

Spaghetti and meatballs? Jamie Oliver did a recipe on his new television show a couple of weeks back. I'm pretty sure he used sausage meat. I think it was the first or second episode, so should be available on Channel 4's iPlayer-thingy.
Also consider stuffed mushrooms, using the big flat ones. I don't have a recipe for them but they can't be that hard."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

I am gluten free coeliac but i am also anaphylactic to nuts and dairy products so a lot of free from is a problem as they use almonds or are not dairy free.and it just seems so expensive.i do not have a lot lof time to make my own i have full time and exhausting job and two children under 3.my husband works retail so doesnt get home till 8.30pm by then after work i am exhausted.weekends its just me trying to stop them destroying the house. Had a couple of spends, dairy free ice creams/cheeses, Chocolate (it's becoming a problem), not really too much 'real food' in there. Today I bought salad stuff/fruit & veg & some 'Custard Apples', which is a fruit that tastes like apple & custard - weird, but very tasty. Came to £22.58 (there was other stuff). I have been using up my stores and have nearly emptied a drawer in my freezer, which I'm going to fill with only freshly batch cooked stuff. I haven't drank alcohol for 3 weeks (say wot), though I did buy a bottle of coffee liqueur, which is sat in the pantry and may venture to get some Campari as its only £12 in Asda. Not too sure why, but I'm on the lookout for a 'Del Boy' home cocktail bar, so will need stuff to go in it - lol - that's my excuse. Have a lovely rest of w/e - have updated sig.0

I tend to go to the main supermarkets late on my way home from work and get the reduced gluten free bread and freeze it. Also Fultons freezer shop often have gluten free stuff much cheaper, they have battered fish and fish fingers in at the moment. I also go to Factory Foods about once a month they often have gluten free products that i buy in bulk (their stock changes every week though, so never know what will be in). They currently have GF sausage meat at 50p a pack and GF flour at 2 for £1.Grocery Challenge Sept 2021 £95.40/£500
