  • Went to the market on a whim, got a ton of blueberries, which is what I was wanting to stock for my smoothies - 6 boxes for £1 and they were really lovely ones, so I bought 12, like ya do, they have been washed, frozen n bagged, plus bought apples, limes & sweet potatoes. On a bit of a health kick, even started yoga (gawd). I'm very well stocked, so hoping not to shop (food) 'till Wednesday, but I'm in Camden Saturdays, so not always easy. Have a lovely w/e everyone. I have updated sig.
  • I'm out this month. I let Mr E do the grocery shopping, knowing he'd spend more than me but thinking how bad can it be. And my cheap shop, which I estimated at about $60, has just hit the bank account at $160. I don't know what he's bought and I probably don't want to, but I'm not going to meet the challenge this month.

So sorry to hear this purpleybat, hope recovers soon.

thankyou, the antibodies seem to be doing their stuff and his breathing seems much easier.

I ordered from morries the other night, I don't know if it was a case of lack of concentration but it seemed a chore and i'm sure would've been quicker to walk there and back :D I spent £42ish tho to get to that amount ended up buying two HUGE boxes of washing powder that will last at least 3 months.
will need to look at account book but I think I should still be under budget with that massive cost shop. fingers crossed.

  • Tesco order came to £77.50 which was more than I expected. In part this was down to them sending ridiculous quantities for the fresh stuff (£3.70 worth of tomatoes!! I don't know what to do with them all :rotfl:)

It means I'm over budget by £9.99 so far but I shouldn't have to spend too much more before next pay day (need a few baking ingredients in the morning for some more baking in aid of charity). Not too disappointed though for my first month, its still a vast improvement from what I usually spend and its a 5 week month for us as well.

When my parents have a glut of tomatoes i roast them with a little garlic and basil, and puree. this can be used later as tomato soup or as a pasta/ pizza sauce.

£25.91 In Lidl and other B&M only wanted coffee but stocked up a few bits so not much for October hopefully, need to order dog biscuit but waiting for an email offer.
Do I need it or just want it.
  • Just spent a few minutes adding up what I spent this month.

I'm surprised that by changing my main supermarket to a cheaper one just how much I have saved, which I estimate to be well over £100 on my usual spend. I can remember this supermarket, be it in another county - before we moved 20 yrs ago, it was viewed as rubbish. What a difference when I stepped through the doors this time, bright, clean and well laid out. OK, the choice isn't there but who wants 15 different types of rice when 3 will do the job.

I will still have to use the other supermarkets for specific items like environmental friendly cleaning products - we are not on main drainage but have a reed bed system so I have to be careful what I use and put down the sink/toilet.

I haven't stinted on what I bought so there is still wriggle room for improvement next month and I've still got £22.47 to last me to the end of this month which should be a breeze. :j
