Tesco order came to £77.50 which was more than I expected. In part this was down to them sending ridiculous quantities for the fresh stuff (£3.70 worth of tomatoes!! I don't know what to do with them all :rotfl:.

if you wont get round to eating them fresh, it does sound a massive amount, you could chop them up and stew them down for the freezer, ready to make sauces.
I just roughly chop them, bung it all in a pan on a low heat and cook, whizz with hand blender and freeze. you can put throo a sieve if soft enough but I leave the bits in.
I've also just chopped and frozen them in old marg tubs to add to stews and curries.
can you tell I grow tomatoes and end up with a glut :)

have to say I was very pleased with my morries delivery this morning, slap bang in the middle of the time slot, very friendly helpful driver and everything there with decent dates. my only tiny problem was a mushy onion in the bag of wonky onions, but as I only found it cos I opened the bag I can't blame the picker.
  • Last day of the September budget for me.
Total spend including milk today has been £135.61.

This month has been a difficult one.

Hopefully better next month which starts tomorrow with pay day.
Have a good rest of the weekend everyone.
    SIL x

    Hi all

Well, another month has absolutely flown by... only 13 weeks till Christmas, yay! Although I don't let myself get officially excited until after Bonfire Night :rotfl:

    I'm declaring out at £244.34 / £250

Under again, but this was a raised budget as I had some bulk buying that I hadn't planned for.
Still, kept it in check for general groceries, so I'm pretty happy with that.

October budget starts tomorrow for me, as it's payday. I have a few toiletries to replace fr om Superdr*g - I get my hairspray, blow dry spray, shaving gel and waxing strips, and deoderant from their own brand range there as they are vegan, don't test on animals and are reasonably priced.
I need make up, but that's a separate budget; I pretty much buy the same face stuff every month with a new mascara every couple. Can't be bothered with anything fancy anymore,
    just basics for me!
Don't need shampoo or toothpaste - my shampoo lasts a few months each time as I use the "New" bar from Lush - it's about £7 or something but lasts so long I think it's worth it - I wash my hair basically every day too! I don't bother with conditioner. Toothpaste I use Kingfisher and I have one on the go and 3 spare as Ocad0 had them on offer a while ago and I stocked up.
So Superdrug for toiletries, plus I need some cleaning products, but not all of them, so can't justify an Ocad0 order for them, plus don't have a discount voucher so feels bad value even though Ecozone is always on offer with them anyway! So will have to see where else I can get it from!

Anyway I'll stop rambling... see you all in October thread!

  • I've been shopping today since we didn't have time last Saturday. (Only one more Saturday in September, and I'm happy when it's over). It came down to 56,57 € so just a bit over my 50 € budget but that's okay. It's mainly do tue a new cheese grater since ours broke the other day. Ugh. Will update my sig asap.

Ooh I'vebeen sent 3 money off vouchers for Mr T - good ones that I'll actually use too! First week is £3 off £20 spend, next two are £2 off £20! I'll take that, I usually spend £10-£20 in there each week anyway so I'll just eke out some of my bigger ticket replacements as I go along. Yay!

Purplebat - hope your dad is feeling a lot better.

I have two spends to declare. Sunday-back-a-week, we did a small top-up shop (yoghurts, the Sunday paper, a couple of packets of YS English muffins, a sweet potato, peppers and wraps). It turned into one of the most frustrating shops I've ever done. We encountered the self-service checkout from hell; it wouldn't recognise half the bar codes, failed to register our Clubcard, etc, etc. In the end, I went to customer service, who gave us a few more pence off the YS items it wouldn't read and clocked up our points. We eventually spent £10.07.

Today, we finally did our big shop. Mr T sent through a timely £4-off-when-you-spend-£30, so we utilised that and the final bill came in at £37.34. Inconveniently, my phone rang right in the middle of me struggling to count out the cash - it was a recruiter about a much anticipated interview so could not be ignored - and I thrust the housekeeping purse and cash at DH. DH later grumbled "Why didn't you pay with the 2 £20 notes we had?" so I pointed out that we had tons of change in the purse and could have paid with virtually the exact money. That hadn't occurred to him. Ce la vie.

Today brings our spend so far this month to £87.06/£120, leaving a balance of £32.94. We're making a day-trip to France later this week, so I'll probably blow that in Carefour in Calais. The shopping list currently consists of garlic, olive oil and wine....

2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 29.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    12 - yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - leather wallet
  • The topup shops are killing my budget this month. Currently on £337.94. Finally organised myself to get a butcher's special offer pack of chicken fillets which are £10 for 2 kilos. Well worth it when Sainsb charge about £7/kilo (and the butcher's is better).

    Meal plan this week:
Sun: HM "moussaka" more like cottage pie really
Mon: chicken curry and mini nan breads
Tues: burgers/bean burgers, potato wedges, salad
Wed: pork escalopes or turkey steaks with couscous
    Thurs: spag bol

Got to do a shop probably tomorrow, no time at weekend and we're out of quite a few basics (tea, ketchup and marmite! all ran out at once) but that will be the last one for Sept

Another 40p spent today at Mr A on a huge bag of croissants 10p, large ciabatta 10p, 6 hot dog rolls 10p and 5 double choc cookies 10p. I can't eat them due to being GF but I'm sure the three males in the house will appreciate them, in fact I'm betting they will have all disappeared in to thin air by the time i get home from work tomorrow.
