I've returned home after posting a sack of 2 cubes.
I was standing in a queue at a WHSmith branch for exactly 30 minutes.
(Actually in 2 queues as an employee moved some of us to another queue which moved no better but was greatly helped by at least two people ahead in "my" queue giving up and leaving the PO.)
It's a pity people who simply want to post something are in the same queue as those wanting passport applications checked.
Awful , not worth your time .
Our post office before long is taking on a lot of the work from the closing banks .
It struggles now so will be a nightmare in a couple of months
One of the reasons a long owned local family PO gave up the PO part of their business.
Banks were closing and they spent their days donig the banks work.
PO section of the shop was converted to a local produce section. less work and far more profitable

This is sadly the story of our times.  Whole sections of the population are gradually being disenfranchised from all kinds of essential services.    I always try and protest when banks close or whatever because sometimes even if you're not personally affected this time, unless we take an active interest in looking after our communities soon there will be no facilities left.

"You don' miss it until it's gone, and then i's too late".  I'm reminded that not long ago Sweden was forced to introduce a law which made it illegal to refuse to accept cash because it had been proved that all kinds of communities and small interest groups like pensioners, charities etc were forced into the position where they could no longer function.      I often think that those who encourage these more recent innovations like credit cards& contactless never seem to have the intelligence or wisdom to project themselves into the future sufficiently to understand some of the consequences of measures they want to introduce.   Innovate by all means but don't exclude minority members of society.

I'm connected with a couple of small charities.  Increasingly banks won't offer banking services to these groups, branches are being closed and treasurers are having difficulties finding somewhere to pay in  the cash raised from "small money transactions" like the sale of raffle tickets, cake sales, jumble sales where everybody still pays cash.  It sounds a minor issue to many but actually it's becoming a major headache for an essential part of our society.

@Primrose totally agree. My local bank branch is reducing it's hours in July. Mid afternoon close in the week and lunchtime on Saturday.
Yes we can do many things at the ATM machines, except when they won't read a cheque, chew up cash or (I also pay in collection cash) can't take coins. Nevermind people who are nervous about using them, need some extra time, don't want to stand trying to pay in a deposit with rain lashing down or a force 10 gale in the winter, can't physically use the machines for some reason etc etc. Apparently we're supposed to become a more tolerant inclusive society - but only where there's money to be made from the marketing it seems.

Mine took exactly seven days after they got delivered to them , all perfect including cost of Special delivery postage.
You should have received them back by now I would have thought .
I trawled through the RM Swapout terms and conditions document and found in it under complaints a link to a webform. I filled it out, had an acknowledgement, then a reply the next day apologising and saying they'd send me what I'd said in the webform I'd sent to them. Those arrived today. So happy ending as swiftly resolved once I queried it.

  • Has anyone who did Unaddressed Mail Survey Starting 25th April not had the reward points yet?
I am just about to start week 2 of the next unaddressed survey and have normally had the points from previous waves uploaded by now.

I did the UM mail survey starting on 25th April, and not yet received the reward.

Hoping it should be added soon.
