Thank you. The Royal Mail compensated me by sending me 6 x 1st Class stamps, it more than covered my costs, but for me it was the embarrassment of my buyer having to open an 'item not received' case with eBay, and then having to wait about 3 weeks to see if it turned up. I didn't give a thought that it might have been sent to Belfast and delayed as a surcharge item. I felt awful when it was revealed that it was down to my error (which it actually wasn't, but as far as the buyer was concerned, it was). Fortunately she took it well but I don't want it to happen again, if I can help it.

Drifting a bit...   This always used to come as a booklet of 6x 1st class.   Did you get that (old red ones) or 6 loose barcoded stamps?
I need to think of something new here...

I got 6 red (old) stamps. This was around Christmas time.

The RM gave me an explanation that it was probably due to temporary staff at the sorting office. As I understand it the letters go into a big drum and drop through a slot that determines them as standard. If they don't drop through the 'standard' slot, they are (or should be) removed and checked by hand to see if they will pass through the 'standard' slot with a little push. It seems that my letter didn't get that extra check. Probably due to the extra volume of post at Christmas, Covid isolating, being short of staff and so on. I don't really have a problem with my little hiccup as I guess a heck of a lot of mail goes through these drums and there's bound to be the occasional problem. I'm just wondering where I stand if I asked for the stamp to be cancelled at the PO counter. Once it's cancelled at the counter it doesn't get another check (or so I'm told).

Sent my stash this afternoon using Special delivery as it is over £200.Find confusing though that envelope provided with form has a different postcode than postcode listed on form.
Still same address but EH129GT rather than EH129PB.
I have also photographed everything , a bit over the top really but hopefully covered. Also used stamps to cover cost of postage , which should be reimbursed.

I read on a philately forum that the 9GT postcode will allow you to get a Certificate of Posting. Both postcodes end up at the same building.

Well, I'm really disappointed.  I have done the postal survey for years now and have just started my latest 6 month stint.  I have just received a message saying that unless I record the items I post by using the app, I will be taken off the survey.  Well, I don't have a mobile that can have apps - it just phones and sends texts and it's not that good at either of those but to be honest I never use it and can't really afford to buy a smartphone!

Unfortunately they do seem to be moving very rapidly in the direction of requiring GPS for a significant proportion of items sent (presumably in an attempt to improve the reliability of data) and reduce the chances of people receiving items before they were sent (a scenario that was reported on here some time ago!)

Thats a shame, possibly because there are other people in your postal area with smart phones. I suspect if there was nobody else in your area to provide this information they might have been more eager to retain your services.

May be worth looking at whether the cheapest phone you could buy, coupled with a cheap SIM only tariff would be worth paying for, in return for the stamps and occasional payments that the survey brings.

I got a Fee to Pay card last week.  Stuck some stamps on it (I've got lots you know!) and sent it back.  Today - it arrived and it's a test item.  Small White with no stamp.  The details inside suggested it should have been franked, so maybe a machine fail and the sender didn't check/notice.

So I've notified Kantar - it's actually a drop-down in the Send Message options and I guess I'll get some stamps back....
    Got my reply today:
    Kantar said:
Thank you for contacting us. We’re sorry that you have been sent a test item with insufficient postage, and for any inconvenience caused. We can reimburse your postage costs either with 1st Class stamps or reward points. Please confirm which you prefer and we’ll get them sent out to you.

That's good. I've asked for Reward Points and they will be credited in a few weeks.

If this should happen again, please contact us before going to collect the item and we'll send you the cost in stamps upfront. If you stick the stamps to the card left by Royal Mail and put the card back in the post, Royal Mail will redeliver the item to you.
Erm... How do I know it's a test item before I've paid to get it? If it's from someone else entirely - Kantar have just given me £2 for nothing...
I got a Fee to Pay card today.

I'm in the "resting" phase so it shouldn't be a test item.  I'm tempted to get Kantar to send me the stamps anyway...

But I'm sticking a couple of Large 1st on it (I've still got more than I need) to see what arrives.  If it does turn out to be a delayed test item then Kantar can stump up some reward points for it.
Got it today...  it's a delayed test item!  Small White with no postage.  The page inside just says 2nd so I'm assuming it should have been franked.  Time to message Kantar again.
Message from Kantar - apologising and sending points to reimburse.
300 points sent.  Which is nice when the Fee to Pay was £2.50 and I'm actually out 2x Large 1st that I have plenty of...
