I'm enjoying having full savings, but apparently they'll be required to buy a new house with...3

well, M-Day is here, and the interest rate went from 1.49% fixed to 6.99% variable so a sensible decision to clear the loan, rather than sit on the 3.5% savings.
Shuffling money to clear the last few thousand by the morning - meant to shift some cash in advance yesterday so I didn't hit the transfer limits but forgot.
We have been mortgage neutral for ages but for the first time it feels giddily like we own the whole house.
The odd bit is that we haven't the foggiest what happens now - land registry etc.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Ouch at the shift in interest rates but yaay at you owning your own home 😊❤️🎉
Is that all your savings wiped out or do you still have some buffer?

Your lender will deal with the discharge at pand registry, some are sneakily asking for £££ for an updated copy of the title - if yours does once they've confirmed discharge pay the land registry £3 for a copy of the register.4

Thanks everyone, especially @peb that was really helpful.@KajiKita yes we still have a good buffer of savings. I've cancelled the mortgage DD and will set up a standing order for the same amount into savings I think
