Salad of the day was walforf. Half a bowl with grapes, half with hot water soaked sultanas. I liked the sultans one better.I think there are some tuna steaks lurking in the freezer so I might go with tuna/olive/egg tomorrow.Struggling to find tinned anchovies. Is it yet another shortage? I don't like them much but they do work in salad dressing.
ooh blue cheese and bacon. Any other tasty salad combos that I have forgotten? Watermelon and feta I loved, but it's a killer with IBS.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I do like toasted pine nuts in a salad, not sure if you’ve mentioned that? There is a random u.s. lady I watch on Instagram who makes some amazing looking dressings just by lobbing whatever she has together and shaking it up, but I’ve never thought to make my own. It looks so easy too.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

We love sun dried toms in a salad - I usually make a pasta salad with them - but with plenty of fresh tomatoes, diced cucumber and diced pepper (preferably red or orange) stirred through. And a dollop of pesto. Frequently with road chicken as the protein element. Yum.
Dressing-wise, tahini and lemon juice is superb - give it just a pinch of sugar to lose the slight bitterness of the tahini.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thank you for the suggestions. I've been reading the Full Diet which is quite interesting if you are reasonably pro science, anti gluten and anti ultra processed food. Managing to apply it us a different matter given the current work stress.
Work is grim. Usually love my job and am never bored, but currently I am not enjoying it for reasons beyond my control. I took a few days off to see if it would help and am now drowning. Meh!
prime saw me invest in hundreds of cat food pouches (48 hours in -yuck we hate this) and a new kindle because the last one objects to being used in the bath. Outrageous.
courgette mountain. Curry and fritters so far - both nice. Raspberries to pick tooMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I think we could have the same job! I could have written the same thing.I bulk bought various flavour combinations of ‘as good as’ because they may randomly go off a flavour or too, but it’s the kind they will always eat at some point. Last prime I accidentally bought some ‘original’ in the mix and they were not impressed 🙄 My kindle is splash proof, that’s essential as I’m a bit accident prone! You definitely got some good buys there. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

"Doubly Delicious" was so bad that even the dogs wouldnt pinch it so I am now careful not to buy too much of any variety.
Something* has damaged my laptop keyboard, must buy a new external one. One button not working but it is the at symbol/apostrophe which is annoying. Keep having to cut and paste. oh, and the arrow keys.
Constant rain has meant garden in overdrive growth spurt, weeds everywhere, despite clearing some every night. Courgette mountain and quite a few raspberries. Some lovely accidental potatoes, but the deliberate ones are fairly sparse. Itll be cucumber mountain next. Ive spotted some carrots in the tunnel too.
If there are only three potatoes per plant, why do I always manage to spear one with the fork?
Raspberry seedless jam
Punnet of raspberries, rinsed and then in a pan with a little water. Stew them, mash them up to maximise juice. Add a good squirt of lemon juice. Ten minutes of simmer, and then sieve out and bin the seeds, keeping the liquid. Measure the liquid and add the same ml in grams of normal sugar. 400ml liquid, 400g sugar = small jar of jelly. Add another good squirt of lemon to help with the set. Heat and stir till the sugar is dissolved and then a gentle boil for ten minutes or so before you start testing for set on a cold saucer. There isnt a lot of pectin so its a fairly soft set jelly but lovely flavour. Same method works with other soft fruit - blackberry etc. You can add a chopped apple at the juicing stage for a better set. Unripe windfalls work well.

“ If there are only three potatoes per plant, why do I always manage to spear one with the fork?”
Because the potato plant resents giving up its babies so manoeuvres them underground to catch in the fork so we get frustrated and leave the rest alone ….! 🙄
And yes, me too ….! 😂
I am defeated yet again by bindweed in the veggie patch this year. I am debating my options for next year ….
