God to find a slightly more affordable source of flea treatments - I remember all too well the cost of that sort of thing when we had HRH, so I can only imagine the level of costs now, and with the quantity of furry family members you have!

@Seasidegal58 I hope so but we may take on a new one when we eventually relocate
@EssexHebridean @Sun_Addict necessary evil spend but good to find a supply under budget. My order arrived safely and as described so I plan to do another one while the offer runs.

Food. Tidied the freezer and used a turkey crown. Made a pork pie too, but for future reference for me, you shouldn't use all lean pork. Saved by the apple jelly - half and half chicken stock and apple juice.
garden v productive - raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes and runner beans today.
MrM very good returns at the weekend. £1 for 2 litres of whipping cream from the fresh cake counter, made old school egg custard in ramekins which freeze nicely. All of the nutmeg, tiny amounts of sugar. They had 75l dehydrated compost for £2.50, lots bought for top dressing. £2.25 for young fig (brown turkey), kiwi (jenny) and autumn fruiting yellow raspberries. The fig and kiwi will go in big pots to overwinter in the tunnel and will eventually move with us.Don't ask what F&V I have eaten today...My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Where does the time go?
I am back on soup due to a tooth issue (resolved but on soft foods) Sophie grigson basic veg varied to what we have. Carrot and coriander first then curried parsnip. Had to make curry paste, but both v good.
How much is olive oil now? I paid under £5 recently but MrT want £6.80 for a litre! The discounter websites still say under £5.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I know oils generally have gone up a fair bit over the past few years - we use rapeseed, and buy in big containers from a supplier we've used for a few years now in the Cotswolds - it will be interesting to see what their prices have done next time we come to buy.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

If I started anew diary currently it would be called 'drifting'. Work takes up all of the bandwidth. In an attempt to take back control I went food shopping this morning. Lamb curry made and some lamb stock on the go for hot pot. 2kg of chicken to do something with tomorrow before another week of no time to cook work. I also tripped and bought another 4 pints of cream for £1...My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I've got cheap cream envy...that would make a lot of really nice butter!
And yes - sometimes one aspect of live does feel as though it's taking up all your available energy and focus doesn't it. Sometimes we just have to acknowledge that "life happens" I think and sit tight until the situation passes.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Still sitting tight. I have rediscovered the joys of bread making as a soothing way of feeling like I don't cook at all. The kenwood takes the strain for dough making. So far I have made Iced bread buns, bread for soup and breadsticks that disappeared in minutes.I have a batch of squash/chilli/coconut soup on the hob, and some sweet dough rising for more iced fingers. I haven't got the time or energy to make DDs apple plait but wanted to remind myself if it. Our mature fruit trees haven't delivered at all this year though so I would have to buy apples! I am usually trying to re home mountains of cooking apples at this time of the year.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
