480 pouches of cat food  Maybe you should acquire some more cats :) My cat is very fussy so when I find a brand she likes I stock up on it when it's on offer. This is when she susses me out and decides she's gone off it. Cue her sniffing the bowl and doing that covering it up thing cats do. Then she goes to eat the dog's food.

I hate that flat feeling you get after a holiday. You always feel you should come home refreshed and buzzing - until reality sinks in.

I'm another one who should really move to the mortgage-free wannabe diaries but it's nice and cosy here :D

Maybe half of the cat food pouches have gone, its worked well actually as it means I don't need to do a big shop. They have expensive high quality nutritious dry food from an online supplier, but sometimes they much prefer the feline equivalent of chicken nuggets. Any scraps they don't eat gets mixed in with the dogs equally expensive and nutritious (dull) dry food so win win all round.

Sunday was use up random things from the freezer, and the last of the fresh veg so we ended up with some pre-cooked beef in gravy with lots of veg. Cooked one of the mini gammon joints for pennies while the oven was on, which has been sliced and used for lunches. DS1 was happy because I found some cinnamon buns lurking.

We were out of everything by this stage so I had to go shopping but that was mostly F&V. MrL had some of the £1.50 mixed trays but all way beyond rescue. The MrM ones are the same - its a lot of money for compost.

Last night was jacket potatoes (microwaved for ten minutes then finished off in the oven) with RTC pre-marinated chicken fillets and lots of salad. Tonight will be HM wedges, salad and what I think is steak which was lurking at the bottom of the freezer. If it gets any colder then it'll be mushrooms, onions and peas instead of salad. I have my fingerless gloves on and a second jumper!

Another failed to turn up to replace broken utilities meter visit today, and another £30 of compensation. £30 is great but I'd rather they just got on and did it now - very bored of shifting everything out so they can get access.

I also need to chase the bank I am trying to switch my donor account to, they have opened the new one but not completed the switch so no payment. No idea why, haven't actually managed to speak to a human about it.
  • Freezer surprise turned out to be one bit of salmon and one of steak so people got mixed plates

The meter fitter eventually turned up so that is sorted for now. Apparently we will get an estimated bill for the gap between my last manual reading and yesterday but that cant be helped. I wish I hadn't sat and froze for all those months now! Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I read on the news this morning that the cauliflower crops have failed and to expect a price rise. This doesn't surprise me as our fruit crops have done really well but the veg mostly died apart from the few bits in the tunnel.

It is cold and wet again, so will dig the last of the mince out of the freezer and make chilli for dinner.

Love the freezer surprise. It did make me laugh.

It's funny how we adapt to the warm temps and now feel cold when it's actually a pleasant 19 degrees.
I snuggled up with a blanket on the sofa last night. In my defense both Mr Star and Star Child are away this week and the house always seems a bit cold and empty (and very quiet) without them.
I quite like it every now and again but I'll be glad to have them both back next week (Mr Star is on a work trip and SC is having a week of adventure with her favourite aunt and little cousin)

It was a cold and wet 13 here today starmummy. Anybody like to take a guess what I bought as a result....

The mince made bolognese for the boy and chilli for OH, which got served with cheese, jacket pots and pasta or variations on that theme. It also used up elderly peppers from the freezer. Egg mayo with crispy bacon bits for tomorrow's lunches which is always popular.

:T Yep, some nice thin ones. I've only got one thin pair left as I wore the other two out. More holes than gloves sadly.

Tempted but no, I am on a self imposed one in one out rule, and there is nothing I would be happy to exit.

The project grinds on, and the prospect of it ending seems to move further off all of the time. The reason I do short term projects is because I have a short attention span and limited tolerance for the inevitable politics. If it does magically end suddenly then we are in a far better off position than 12 months ago, no car replacements on the horizon for several years, fairly healthy emergency savings and a buffer in the business account that would allow me to pay myself an allowance while I decide what to do next. I would miss making the mortgage over payments though,

Tonight I think we will have some sort of Stroganoff, probably with pork as there is some in the freezer. Must check what else is left as it is looking rather bare other than bulk bought RTC lamb mince, and turkey mince.

120 more pouches of cat food coming today :o

I bought some fingerless cashmere gloves last week. They are seconds but really nice :)
