Glad the robot is helping Redo.
OBL, I have a steam cleaner from Ald1 that was about £15 and seems to work well. It's got several attachments including brush (seems to work well on suede boots), flat head (strips wallpaper, even if more slowly than the proper ones with a bigger area), nozzle (bathroom corners) and window cleaning (should try that). It needs to be plugged in, but the cable is quite long. You do have to hold down the button for steam though, so probably not ideal for anyone whose hands get sore or stiff quickly.

I previously had a Morphy Richards steam cleaner which was rubbish but have recently replaced it with a Vax one which is brilliant. My bathroom extractor fan is in the ceiling and comes on when you switch the bathroom light on.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Robot hoover sounds fab. I am quite spoiled and actually haven't hoovered properly for years. Usually OH comes and does it for me as he knows I hate it, so he's kind of like a human/ robot hoover :rotfl:
You sound very organised with the presents etc. Well done on the overpayment! It's not a bargain if I don't actually need it.Total Debt : ?? / ??0 -
Another busy week, they are just flying by. Some more bits for presents snatched en route to site visits. I think 80% of their parcels are edible but it's really just about having a few things to unwrap on the day.
Need to order OHs present, and find something for him and a boy to give me, which isn't bad for this stage of December.
On my way back on Friday I nipped into Asda, they have 21 day beef joints at £5/kg which actually state the cut. I got a few toprump ones, and have cut them down into nice bits for pot roasting and then cubed the remainder for stewing beef. Much cheaper and better quality than buying pre diced beef. We used one batch last night to make sure it passed the taste test and it was excellent. MrM have a similar offer but the quality wasn't great, and the cut wasn't named last time I tried.
I made a beef curry using half a jar of red Thai paste and a small tin of coconut milk. Just enough beef stock to cover the meat, then an hour and a half on low in a covered casserole dish. Added halved waxy potatoes and red pepper and gave it another half an hour on high till the potatoes were cooked. Served on a bed of the oven cooked rice - cast iron casserole, finely diced onions gently cooked in butter and oil, then add rice 75g per person, frozen peas and spices (turmeric, bay, cardoman, cloves and a cinnamon stick), stir to coat then add twice as much veg stock as rice (150ml per person). Lid on, into a 160 oven for 20-25 minutes. When you take the lid off the spices rise to the top so it's easy to remove them. Add anothe4 big knob of butter and stir through for a minute before serving.
Double helpings for the hungrier residents so I can't comment on does it taste better second day.
So much to do today, and DS1 needs to have a practice run at profiteroles ahead of a practical test at school tomorrow. I can always freeze them for a later date.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Yum like the sound of the beef curry Redo. I buy turkey legs from A3da and I find the meat to be of good quality and reasonably priced. They also do good organic veggies as very fresh.

DIA Asda is quite a way out of my way usually, but I do like their meat. Hopefully will have time to nip in again later this week. I've not seen the turkey legs.
I pot roasted one of the better bits of beef today, cast iron dish, peeled carrots in the bottom for the beef to stand on, beef in inch of beef stock then in the oven for about three hours on medium. Lovely melting beef with the leftovers nice and crumbly for OHs packed lunches. I had mine with oven roasted grated carrots, and roast parsnips.
DS1 made (and ate all of) his profiteroles. He then ate a full roast dinner. I wish I had the metabolism of a 15 year old boy.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Sounds as if the beef was a good buy. Did you establish whether DS1’s profiteroles were any good before he disposed of the evidence?0

:rotfl: at DS1 and his profiteroles! I'm impressed that he actually made them himself! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
